A man was hit with a brick and stabbed before being robbed of the much awaited Grand Theft Auto V video game in north London.
The 23-year-old was returning home from shopping when he was attacked in Colindale at 01:20 BST, police said.
The video game by RockStar Games was officially launched at midnight.
The victim, who is in a stable condition in hospital, was also robbed of a watch and a mobile.
No-one has been arrested over the attack and police have appealed for information.
A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: "The victim had been shopping and was on his way home when he was hit with a brick.
"He was then stabbed and robbed."
Grand Theft Auto V was launched in stores across the UK at midnight, with long queues forming outside gaming shops.
Experts believe Rockstar Games could sell 25 million copies, generating £1bn during its first year on sale.
Atleast they didnt steal his GTA V copy, which is important! Or did they?

Tbh many people get robbed, many of them carry video games on them..He didn't stab him just for the video game, he also took the poor guys wallet, watch and mobile, not sure which I'de feel more sad about, being stabbed or being robbed of GTA V.
This is only blown up in media because of the fact its GTA V
Theres no definite proof the guy came for video games, he probably just took whatever he liked.
That is absolutely depressing.... I hope he knows there is no "game" time in jail. Also.. this is why the world gave us Amazon. :gand:And play.com?
Thinking of buying a new PS3 specifically for GTA V, I think I'll probably order GTA V online though. :D

Good choice, don't buy it at a shop, you might end up in the hospital. :dead:Got me a PS3 and GTA V already, damn GTA V's map is so fucking huge, I got lost after going over a hill, and the way you punch people, it's so funny, one hit knockouts.
someone getting stabbed over a game...He didn't specifically get stabbed for the game. :gand:
I'll just wait for the PC release, there aint no way im buying a console when I have a superrior gaming PC :DMy PC is better aswell, and I'll buy GTA V for PC aswell, just couldn't be bothered waiting for it. :)
Two brothers, aged 17 and 16, were out late last night in Toronto picking up Grand Theft Auto V. That should have been the most exciting thing of the night, but nope. They had to go and help save an old man's life on the way home.
Returning from the store with their game, the pair came across a house on fire, with a 70 year-old man trapped inside. They called 911, then bust down his front door to try and save the occupant. The flames forced them back outside, however they had made the emergency call fast enough that the fire brigade got there in time to rescue the man.
Well done, gents. Hope the game was a little less dangerous.
I am quite concern the victim won't be in mood to play GTA V or any violent games ever.Or he might play GTA V to re-inact what happened to him, for teh lolz.. :rage:
