Hey guys, the topic title says it all, I'm looking for a good Antivirus software, any of you can recommend me? it will be awesome if it's free :3

Avast (http://www.avast.com/en-eu/get/YXjkupaN)

Zone Alarm Anti Virus, it now uses the same detection engine as kaspersky and has a free edition.
-
MSERTX86.EXE
Though that's more of a quick and handy tool for PC's riddled with viruses.
As for an antivirus suite however; Windows 8(.1) has MSE built in which i use on my laptop(daily driver)
On my PC however, I use none

Microsoft Security Essentials - simple & easy, if you don't need much from antivirus it's perfect! (also it's great in detecting viruses)

I currently use ESET Smart Security, it's has some pretty awesome features. On the downside though, it isn't free. A license for Smart Security costs about 42 bucks. Well worth the money, in my opinion.
If you really want to go for something a little less pricy (as in free), try out Windows Security Essentials.

AVIRA.

I use a behavorial engine which is partly custom made. And a lot of common sense, and a sandbox, and virtualisation.
-
Avast! Free Antivirus. For the best and the worst!
-
If you're about to get antivirus do not download free ones, they're just scanning and making your PC run slow, won't do a shit.

If only you knew the purpose of an anti-virus program and not something you saw on 9gag.
Certain programs like Norton are utterly useless, even if you buy it as they do waste resources where as the other anti-virus programs such as Avast, NOD32 and others are more resource efficient and generally have a higher detection rate than some like Norton.

Windows Defender, true hipster style.
-
ESET NOD 32
-
Avast! and there is MSERT.exe which you can launch via run.
-
Avast forever.
-
I got two Os's, Windows(One PC runs XP, other runs 8) and Ubuntu
Ubuntu, i dont gotta worry about no viruses. Its blazing fast and i <3 it. Only problem is that lots of stuff doesnt support it, including 99.99% of all viruses.
Though i run avast on my Windows OS's

AVG

I suggest buy bitdefender.Very cool software for good computers.

As a person who specializes in computers, I can say that this is bullshit.
Free anti-viruses aren't effective as premium ones, ofcourse, and sometimes they overlook some in the downloads. All antiviruses scan your computer and take resources, how would they run and what would be their purpose if they wouldnt?
However, free antiviruses are able to detect and block a virus that is actually starting to act, however, upon detection it isnt able to properly remove it and block it from getting back into your computer ever again, unlike the premium one.
