Title: GTA IV: Multiplayer Crisis
Post by: Tai on September 19, 2013, 10:32:20 pm
Dear Community Members,

currently the Argonath IV:MP development is facing a lot of troubles with the latest changes and news regarding IV:MP and it's development. If you didn't noticed it yet the IV: Multiplayer development has split after some internal problems which is the reason that there are now officially 2 Multiplayer mods. IV:Network based on the IV:MP 1.0 engine and IV:MP still based on the same old Networked: IV engine. In result of this trouble we as community got into major problems which we need to clear out during their developments.

I've been personally checking the IV:MP Forums regulary and for my disappointment I have not seen any more news or updates on it. Which makes me figuring that "IV: Multiplayer" is at the end of it's road and will close soon.
But as we as community and of course those who play on IV:MP regulary, want a IV server. Need to make up a decision, sadly this decision may result into something that once again many feared as it will mean that you need GTA: Episodes from Liberty City and not GTA: IV.

Apart from the actually formed IV:Net software (Leaded by Sebihunter, XForce and @Fri) is another multiplayer mod which also requires GTA: Episodes from Liberty City. It's called MultiV, but however I suppose it will not be used as replacement for our current IV:MP server as it is based on the way Multi Theft Auto is made.

The reason for the use of GTA: Episodes from Liberty City is easy explained. All games after GTA: IV are based and made on the RAGE engine from Rock Star Games ( IV, TLaD, TBoGT, EFLC and even V ). As it is a release after GTA: IV (which was the first release on this engine) they have improved it which makes EFLC much more stable itself than GTA: IV is. What also the developers of IV:Net explained to players. It is easier to script on a working game engine than on a unstable game engine.

How we decide this case and when is just a matter of time and the stability of the clients, I highly doubt that we see any more releases of former IV:MP modification for GTA: IV. Therefore is just one to say:
We are in a serious crisis around GTA: IV, been left with a unstable modification we spent years on to make a successful server for our community and of course those new players that it brought to us. But whatever happens the hope dies last and we won't let our baby down!

Kind regards,

Tai a.k.a. Frodo

I was just about to install IVMP when I saw the name of this thread and now see the contents and will not be installing it.
Not good to rely on crappy mods.

It is quite disappointing the direction IV:MP is and has been heading due to various conflicts and poor decisions by some people.

However, I am currently watching closely the progress of MultIV to see how it is progressing and whether it will be developed to the high-standard that they have been publicly promoting it on their website and forums. They have even stated that there will be a lot of support for roleplay servers on that mod due to the popularity of those type of servers on GTA mods, with loads of functionality and features.

It is currently in the Closed Alpha development stage, but as soon as it is made public I am going to test it out.

For now though, I guess we can only work with what is available to us which atm is our current version of IV:MP...

Well as someone who tried to get on IV and failed due to the fact I i had to get no CD cracks as i lost my disk ages ago, I do like the Liberty city Stories as it has more of a selection, and its more like the current GTA V but since i've been on IVMP so little I fell its unfair for me to say 1 thing out of my own self interests, non the less my vote for MultiIV.

If we stay in GTA IV soon or later the new client will be released and we will get more stable we got a lot of new players and i think we should not give up right now

i am astonished how many new players everyday join ivmp these days. it would be sad to loose the circumstance, under which we play now, again. with my less knowledge about the scripterscene i looking forward to net:iv when i see the names of who are involved. Hope the ivmp browserlist and functionality works as long as something new is released.

No one mentioned that the server will be closed. We will stick to T3 until we get a decent multiplayer mod to play.

nobody cares about iv.. the future is about V

"Nobody cares" along with 439587639485 other sentences of that kind, are the most common expression of people shitting on something they can't even run (IV indeed). Have fun waiting some other years for V:MP :) and next time keep that to yourself.
