BF2 SO OLD NOOB OMG LOLOLOL HAHAHA GAY LOL PLAY BF4 FOO' ETC.
Yeah, I am still playing Battlefield 2 because it is an awesome game, no matter what other say.
Coming back to the subject, I have issues regarding gameplay.
I have the orgiinal CD from 2010 *when I bought it*. Played for a while, then gave up.
After winter preparations few days ago, I was sweeping trough my old discs and electronic equipment and I found the case with the CD. I decided to reinstall it, and play.
I didn't install the booster pack the CD came with also, the Special Forces, Euro Force and Armored Fury. At least for now. I've opened the game, normally, played for a while in Singeplayer - okay, fine. Got bored, switched to Multiplayer. After 10 minutes of gameplay, it crashes.
Note that I also have a BF2.exe file downloaded from the Internet as a patch since, once I inserted the disk and the auto launcher appeared and pressed Play, it gave me a disc error. So I guess this was the only way.
After some researches I didn't find anything. EA Support was unavailable so you are my last hope. Any ideas?
Regards.

Battlefield 2 is awesome, I still play it as well. :D
Make sure the files you downloaded came from EA's site, 3rd party (hosted) files tend to be corrupt very often.

You should contact EA Live support, just contact them using BF3's or some of their newer games support and ask them about BF2, always works.

How did it crash? Black screen and straight to desktop, with no error popup?

Straight to the Desktop, no error pop-up. Mid gameplay, black screen, Desktop. Win7 user.
By the way, thanks everyone for the TIPs. Unfortunately, none worked..

A lot of people have this problem, do you have 1.5 patch? If not, nothing besides Windows reinstallation will help.

What Operating System are you using?
If not, nothing besides Windows reinstallation will help.
Reinstalling Windows would do nothing to solve his problem but provide him with outdated drivers and remove important updates.

Win7.

Try running as Administrator, try running with Windows XP Compability, try re-installing, try updating your graphics card driver.

Yes, all of these. The reason being is that Battlefield 2, (if I'm remembering correctly), was made long before Windows 7 existed. That means it does not know how to interact with the newer Operating System's changes. It is also likely that Microsoft decided not to add compatibility updates to Windows 7 for that game because of its age. It is possible, however, that the game manufacturer *may* have an update available. Be sure to check their website and see.
