Introduction
During the months following the release of RP 1.0, we learned that having a basic game-mode was not enough to attract MTA players, who are used to servers with more interesting things and more advanced game-modes than there are in the default game.
A completely new version of the game-mode, 2.0, was written from scratch in order to feature more maps, modifications, and scripts. After a lot of hard work, we are pleased to announce the release of RP 2.0. At the moment, RP 2.0 script is one of the most advanced in Argonath.
Nevertheless, this doesn't mean that development of current scripts is finished. Consider 2.0 to be a solid base for future releases: we will be constantly adding new features in order to make the game-play much more enjoyable.
Next releases will be called 2.01, 2.02, 2.03, and so on. We may soon release a schedule of upcoming releases and details involved, so that you will be able to know what to expect next.
RP 2.0 has also got a strong anti-cheat. You may be kicked if you try to connect while having mods that give you an advantage over other players.
The list below is a summary of all new features brought by RP2.0 Open Beta and Final versions.
New Features
Ammu-Nations
Certain weapons are no longer sold at all Ammu-Nations, and now can be obtained through illegal means available to official criminal groups.
New Economy
One of the biggest updates coming with 2.0 is a completely new business system. Just like in 1.0, we stayed loyal to the idea of having no entrance fees. The biggest change is that all items available for sale in shops now have to be bought by their owners from wholesalers. This works in a way that is a little bit similar to previous (re)stocking scripts available in this and some other Argonath servers.
Wholesalers' prices regularly change within a certain range, directly affecting the economy. Shop owners may also set at in item's price with a range. It is important to understand that if a shop runs out of stock, customers will not be able buy items inside it. Consequently, it is important that owners of businesses frequently dedicate time to managing their business.
Of course, we understand that there may be situations when all the businesses of one type run out of stock, leaving players with no means of buying a certain item. To prevent this from happening, there will be a state business of each type that will sell all items; however, these state-owned shops will sell their items at the highest price possible in order to give players a possibility to compete.
Several jobs and features have been balanced in order to create a realistic economy in the server. Money no longer gets "deleted" - it either flows between players directly (e.g. /send), indirectly (e.g. medical fees and coroner rewards) or is kept at the State's accounts (e.g. fee paid for repairing vehicles). The money kept in State account will flow back towards the active economy by being sent to players in the form of job rewards. For that purpose, the rewards for each scripted job have been carefully balanced in order to make all jobs equally profitable.
The scripts contain a number of stimuli for economic flow. For example, firemen who take part in firefights suffer a loss of HP due to the work's hazards, making them either get help from a medic or buy food from a business. Countless items that help players in their roleplaying, such as cellphones and calculators, as well as handheld objects are available for purchase in different businesses. Some of these items can even be lost, requiring players to purchase them again. This induces the players into regularly spending money in shops, and said money will either go back to players in the form of employee payments or as owner's profit, or return to State in the form of restock fees.
Criminal Side
- Leaders of official group can now maintain a list of their members in game.
- Official criminal groups can interact with NPCs, being able to purchase heavy weapons not sold at Ammu-Nation.
- Players now obtain drugs from supplier NPCs scattered across the map, each time appearing in a different position. Hints about the locations of these appearances may be obtained from an informant NPC for a small price.
- Tweaked wanted system: heavier penalties for getting caught by police, and possibility of avoiding auto-suspect while comitting murders. This brings an advantadge to discreet criminals.
