This wreck happened around 2 pm yesterday, due to the nature of the wreck and how bad it was it mad national headlines in the evening newscasts. It happened along Interstate 40 in Jefferson County, Tennessee. About 70 miles southeast of me.
There is 8 confirmed fatalities, 14 injured. What happened was that a church bus heading to North Carolina from Gatlinburg, TN suffered a tire blowout on its left-front tire. The bus crossed the grass median, plowed into a tractor-trailer, flipped on its side, then burst into flames. Soon, a SUV plowed into the mess and becoming the final vehicle involved. Out of the 8 fatalities, one of them was inside the semi-cab, another was in the SUV, and the rest were inside the church bus.
