Title: Nothing happens when clicking Gta_sa or connect to samp
Post by: Kewlizm on January 09, 2014, 04:02:25 pm
Hello,
So one of my friends wanted to start playing samp and gta sa, so I installed GTA SA for him (legal) and downgraded it to 1.0 and installed the latest SAMP. Now when he tries to run gta OR connect to a samp server, nothing happens. The gta_sa.exe does not appear in processes. He has Windows 7. And gta_sa.set cant be found because the game has never been run.

Here is what we tried:
- Running it in compatinility mode.
- Running it as an admin.
- Changing the directory.
- Updating drivers.

And much more... just cant remember all of it since I scrolled 5 pages of google for answers without finding a fix. Now we will try to reinstall both.

Try re-installing DirectX 9 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-za/download/details.aspx?id=34429
I once had the same problem and it turned out I needed to re-install directx for the game to function correctly and actually open.

You could try install Microsoft Visual C++ http://www.microsoft.com/en-za/download/details.aspx?id=30679
And Microsoft .NET Framework 4 http://www.microsoft.com/en-za/download/details.aspx?id=17851

Just did what you said. But still not working. Any other suggestions?

If the graphics drivers are installed, all three of the above are installed and it still does not start up..
Try move the location of the game, so move the GTA San Andreas folder from the Rockstar Games folder to the Program Files folder instead.

Still nothing. Oh and it is installed via steam by the way.

Steam version will not work since it cannot be downgraded.

Well I was able to downgrade my own steam version, and I did it to my friend in the same way as I did to myself. So it should work...

The problem is even singleplayer wont launch.

Steam version will not work since it cannot be downgraded.
You just have to replace the executable manually instead of using the downgrader patching program. The Steam version will still contain an extra, useless executable, but it does nothing for the game itself.

Try renaming the GTA San Andreas folder itself and see what happens. Also, make sure you are not trying to run it through Steam, as that would cause you issues.
