Title: GTA SA doesn't run in Full Screen
Post by: Matt Murdock on January 28, 2014, 08:47:59 am
My monitor is HD+ (1600x900) and when I play I have these two black bars on each side, because SA simply doesn't support 16:9 widescreen resolution.

Any help?

Ofcourse, its SP I'm having trouble with.

is it happening in both cases?(single player/multiplayer). If yes, Check the display settings and if it will happen again, re-install your game.

I did mention its only SP.. lol

aka Single Player ofcourse.

Also I'm sure its not the issue only with me, as my old laptop ran same it way and it runs same for others with wide screen monitors too as the game was made in 2005.

I'm basically looking for some suggestions on some kind of program or CLEO script which forces the Single Player to run fullscreen without the black borders.

Didn't really test this (http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=23407) but you should give it a shot.

Forgot to mention, mine is version 3.0. Bought it on steam recently.

It does support 16:9 I believe, for my laptop(1280x800) and another display(1440x900) worked without an issue, despite being 16:10.

From what I can say you could examine the scaling settings of your GPU if it comes with a control panel that is.
I assume GTA:SA's settings doesn't allow you to set it to the desired amount either?

It didn't work fullscreen with my older laptop either, which was also 16:9. 1366x768.

And exactly, that's the issue. The settings don't show my screen resolution, but it shows the ones you mentioned. :p

Try googling gta sa widescreen-fix, should be a .asi or cleo-file.

Hmm, wouldn't there be some changes? Doesn't latest version bring bug fixes?

Also Steam version can't be downgraded.

And ffs Rockstar doesn't have a good community on Steam -_- Its a total mess in boards for RStar games. Grr

That is only for the gun target.

If your resolution isn't showing up, then there are two possible issues:
1. You are looking at 16-bit resolutions by mistake.
2. You need to update your video drivers, or install ones specific to your video card/on-board video, instead of using generic/plug-and-play ones.

From there, you'll need to set your game to the proper resolution, and then depending on how it displays, you may or may not wish to enable the "Widescreen" feature in the game's video settings.
