Title: laptop turned to be a truck?
Post by: Khm on March 19, 2014, 08:42:42 pm
The cool down device started to make weird noise like its climbing a mountain with a small car. After restarting the laptop it stopped, checked if there is something in it but nothing.
What was that?
How to avoid it?
What caused it?

You'll need to explain this more in detail. Do you mean your computer's fan was being excessively loud, or sounded like something was in it? Was the computer hot at the time? Did it sound like another device?

Yes that's the word I was searching for.
No it was cold.
It sounded like a truck climbing a mountain excessively loud.

Don't post if you don't have anything useful to say.

To Khm - did anything specific happen before it or just randomly started?

Does it return to its normal sound level at any moment?

Most likely it is a fan, which is failing. Try listening, which fan is doing it.
If you have warranty, take it back to the shop.

Sounds like a faulty fan bearing to me, easy to fix/replace. Inadvisable to do yourself if your laptop is still under warranty.

Off Topic but at first i thought it transformed into a truck.

Anyways, is this issue resolved?

Most likely fan has gathered dust and is unable to mountain a low temperature, thus it runs on highest RPM even though still without efficiency.
What you can do is put 2 books besides the laptop, holding it on air for better air-flow. Also make sure to clean out the fan from dust or whatever you see.

That is because the computer's cooling system is too inefficient to properly cool it at heavy load.

If it's not the optical drive spinning with a disk inside of it and not the fan spinning at a high speed to cool the laptop then the last option would be the HDD making that noise.

The fans/cooling for the laptop could be blocked up with dirt causing it to strain when trying to cool the laptop.

Its not the place of the harddrive as I just touched where exactly it is, the noise stopped and the fan worked normally after it. Will check if there is also maybe a cable blocking  it or something.

When i heard the noise, i thought that it was that, as when i got my new psu the fan was chewing my cooler wire, so yeah, it made the same noise.
