Simply because people are running out of actual good movie ideas. Most movies these days aren't even that good compared to classics.

Well I always knew that there was going to be an other "Godzilla", because at the end of the first movie ( 1998 ) they show you that there's still one egg left just never knew it was going to be a remake. Anyways, a sequel or a remake doesn't matter I'm satisfied... I always loved the first, wouldn't mind watching an other one. Judging from the trailer it seems that it's going to be one hell of a movie. Yes trailers can be deceiving but what the hell, I'll never know unless I watch it myself.
