Title: [Reminder] Bosnian War 92-95
Post by: Zlatan on April 07, 2014, 10:30:27 pm
Howdy. I'd just like to remind you of my countries' war, even though we have nowdays Syria, we had Iraq, etc. This was was a bit more specific, sad and I could write for days but I'd just like to remind you that neither you nor me should ever forget this and we should learn from history, which is our best teacher...

Women being raped, kids being killed and tortured, adults being placed in extermination camps... This event was the most devastating after the World War II.

Srebrenica was the most affected town in Bosnia. There are still bodies of persons that aren't even discovered yet, today...

Some causes of the war:
Essentially, the Bosnian war was fought because Serbs and Croats living in Bosnia wanted to annex Bosnian territory for Serbia and Croatia respectively. There were several mitigating factors in addition to ethnic tensions. The Nationalist leader of Serbia, Slobodan Milosevic, was pushing for what he called a "Greater Serbia". The Bosnian Croats and Muslims, fearing that Milosevic would try to take their land if they were still under Yugoslavian control, called for Bosnian independence.

Just before the war began, Radovan Karadzic created a renegade army within Bosnia with the support of Milosevic in Belgrade. In 1992, under Karadzic's leadership, Bosnian Serbs began a policy of "cleansing" large areas of Bosnia of non-Serbs. After the war, a tribunal declared that the "cleansing" was actaully genocide, and convicted Karadzic and his military commander of war crimes.

On April 6, 1992, the Bosnian Serbs began their siege of Sarajevo. Muslim, Croat, and Serb residents opposed to a Greater Serbia were cut off from food, utilities, and communication. For three years, food was scarce and the average weight loss per person was more than 30 pounds. More than 12,000 residents of Sarajevo were killed during the 43 months of siege. Throughout Bosnia, Bosnian Serb nationalists and the JNA began a program of ethnic cleansing in order to create a "pure" Serbian territory.. Entire villages were destroyedand thousands of Bosnians were driven from their homes, held in detention camps, raped, tortured, deported, or killed. Rape was a military tactic to destroy the bonds of families and communities. An international arms embargo was in effect throughout the war, preventing the Bosnian government from obtaining the heavy artillery and arms that it needed to fight the more sophisticated arsenals of the Serbian and Croatian armies.

There are stories of even USA being apart of this war as the main starter of it, however... USA sent troops to "help us", but actually nobody did, not even UN... Bosnia was not even prepared for war

You used the word "forget" a lot, seems like you think people actually cared in the first place, you also used the word today, this was 20 years ago. I don't care if your teacher told you to make a history report about some war, this isn't news (newly received or noteworthy information, esp. about recent or important events.) This is Oldws, so get your oldws back to the times we invented fire, I'm still waiting for that MH370 to land in my backyard.
Don't be so disrespectful towards other countries, I knew some idiot would find his way throughout this and write something like this. Sometimes its better to be quiet, rather than letting it out.

Even though I haven't been in the actual war, my parents, my grandparents, my sister, cousins have. Its terrible and I think everybody should know way beyond that, not just "newly news" or what ever. I know you don't care, but I want you to see this, you and everybody else on the forum. If you actually lived through this there would be a rather different story, however you are now in a possibly rich ass house, drinking your tea or what ever, not caring about anything in the world, thinking only about yourself, that's very greedy and disrespectful, keep the useless comments and arguments for yourself. Human stupidity at its highest, instead of actually learning you choose to be an idiot trapped in the world of gaming or whatever, you probably don't even know history about your own country.

absolutely f-u-c-k-i-n-g disrespectful.
Just shows how lack of intelligence and education leads to common sense depleting and almost being non existent.

Indeed, the war was brutal and by many, unnecessary. May their souls rest in peace.

Why are you still on this forum?
Go annoy your own mother with this kind of attitude, not us. I wish some important people in your life face the same destiny like those muslims, maybe you will then work out it's not an irrelevant information as you called it.

War as a war never was nor will be a good solution for anything, innocent people die and the ones who "set up" the fire always get their asses out of danger and and then act "heroes", pieces of a shit.

May all of the innocent people who died in this war rest in peace.

He is not important, don't mind his stupidity. He probably doesn't even know whats he talking about.. If I knew him IRL i'd knock the shit out of him...

Now I point out that I DO NOT WANT THIS TOPIC based on hatred and stupidity of some members (aka. Jaka)... Lets just keep it a peaceful and respectful topic for now, I don't want it being deleted because of idiots.

If you think someone's wrong, it's more respectful to point it out and explain why then to start shitting back like Emmet mentioned, you only sink to their level...

The whole Yugoslav war was a pretty sad ordeal, specially because it all could've been avoided.
I've, lately, been watching a lot of Documentaries and shows regarding the war (more specifically about the effects of it on Croatia, since I'm pretty obsessed with that country), and it indeed is sad to see such a "recent" war, and look at the devastation it caused (and still is causing) for all countries and people affected by it.

This being said, we can only be glad the war ended, it was a heavy blow to those countries, yet it always could've been way worse..

While this topic was intended to be about the war in Bosnia, I feel the need to share these few videos about Croatia too, to show that in fact a lot of countries had a hard time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmBvEnfQICk - bombings in Dubrovnik

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UISoTYiUJ5w - The killings and slaughtering of innocent people trying to protect their country..

Till date, the Yugoslav wars remain a dark hole in history, and shall never be forgotten

Rest in peace.

Montenegro soliders bombed Dubrovnik as Croat's did the same thing all over the country, , and Vukovar is a whole new deal, you could open a topic just for the battles that occurred in that city and it wouldn't be enough, this video that you posted is just a tip of the iceberg what Croat's did to the local Serbs and the army that was there.

If you are into Croatia then I guess you want to know it's history so you could watch this documentary, if you got the guts because it got some hard scenes, it's about there act's during the WW2 it really explains a lot, and it was made during the time Yugoslavia still existed, all the nations were included in developing this movie so it's not just plain propaganda.

Reminder of the Muslim crimes is undesirable in media, that's nothing new, with all due respect to the innocent  people that got killed, number's what are they mentioning and trowing around are just rubbish, and using word "genocide" ........a great deal of exaggeration, that all I'm gonna say.Same goes for the idiots from my country that support the Srebrenica attack.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biCK9k9bLA0
Here you can see some pictures of Muslim crimes against Serbs in the  places around Srebrenica
And the second link is generally  Hell in Yugoslavia Photos from 1991-1995.

I did't sent any picture of Mujaheddin crimes where you can see them beheading people or playing football with human heads but there actions and torturing in concentration camp's were, by far, the worst.
