Title: Script update: Fire missions

In order to battle players behaviour in regards of fire missions, some updates has been made.

Mission reward
Before, the script would calculate the rewards based on how many firefighters was online on the server, no matter if they was at the mission or not. This did contribute to players killing other players in order to get a bigger reward. Now, it will calculate based on how many firefighters that are in the area of the actual fire mission instead of how many firefighters there is on the server.

This means, if players are killing other players in order to stop them from putting out fires, they will actually get less money than if they are actually there.

Firestation speaker
If you are in the proximity of a fire station, you will now see a message like "[Firestation Speaker] All units, we have a reported fire at <location name>.". That means you do not need to use /pager inside a fire station to get the name of the location anymore.

Pager
With the update of Firestation speakers, /pager has also been updated to be usefull. Now when you use /pager, you will get a marker on your minimap that is showing the exact location of the fire mission.

Firetruck vs Fire Extinguisher
Before, the fire truck would put out 5% each second of a source and the fire extinguisher would put out only 2% per source which made it pretty much useless to use a fire extinguisher, and it was way to easy to put out a full mission with a firetruck. But now, we have flipped those values around and now, fire extinguisher will put out 5% per second and fire truck 2% per second.

These updates are scheduled to be added to the server tomorrow.

Can you disable the Police Jurisdiction thing on the next update ?
Everybody hates this Jurisdiction thing.
Or if you don't want to disable it, do an option so players can choose the jurisdiction manually and not randomly.

The one in Fort Carson?

It was massive, had atleast 15 fire sources, and took a good 5/10 mins to extinguish with 3 fire trucks on scene.

I forgot to mention another change.
fire extinguisher will put out 5% per second and fire truck 2% per second.

Firemen will die If they use fire extinguisher, there should be something like in rs4 was water canon to maintain the fire to get rid of death.


So people won't use extinguisher, So this change is of no use.

You will die if you get too close, but there is a distance that will allow you to extinguish the source without losing health.

May I remind everyone that script changes alone will not be able to stop the problem of greed. If you want it solved, then do your part too. Contribute to "teamwork" and help stop greedy firemen.

Just to inform you, admins are allowed to act on cases of greedy firemen and those who grief players, even if it is not directly written in the rules. If you feel that a greedy firemen or two is compromising the other firemen on the server, I encourage you to seek help from admins. After all, these greedy douchebags are committing a form of griefing, not something we exactly want here.

I still don't see why a fire-fighter who takes out a whole fire alone (those big ones), gets only 1k after taking it all out by himself. Especially if the server is deserted, not much he can do if there's only a couple or no other fire-fighters online...

Because 1k every 30 mins is a very good amount. The more firemen on the scene, the more people you compete with and hence more money. You shouldn't be expecting 10k/hr just because you're alone

Nobody said you should be getting 10k an hour, but 1k is also too low. Waiting for more firemen to get online will just earn you less per hour.

While you may not have competition when taking fires out yourself, on the other hand you are putting in more time, because you're only able to take the fires out with a firetruck.

The testing of the new missions along with an old ones were made with the extinguisher, I don't see why you are saying that you can only get rid of the fire with the truck.

If you're alone you can either use your extinguisher or firetruck, not both. Without anyone maintaining the fires, your most likely going to die.


Is there a certain time for missions to be available or is it completely random?

Missions usually come after 25-50mins+. It is random.

What do you mean with maintaining the fire? As far as I know, you can't maintain the explosions of the sources anymore, they are extinguishable wheter with the firetruck or the extinguisher.

Well, if you're alone at the mission, so maintaining the fire is not that difficult. As Conroy said, if we will keep a perfect distance from the fire source we shall be able to extinguish the fire without dieing.

The point you're not understanding is that you're gonna take longer taking it out alone either way.

In RS5 the payment is much lower than in RS4. 1k is actually a just amount, atleast proportionally to the payout of other jobs. But perhaps the payout should be increased if more effort is put in, perhaps adjust the limit depending on the size of the fire.

I never said that we can use the fire truck and the extinguisher at the same time. Moreover, according to the update, taking the fire out with an extinguisher is more convinent. A firetruck takes out 2% of the source per second and an extinguisher takes out 5% of the source per second.

However, extinguishing the whole fire alone takes time.

Let's not forget that you may extinguish multiple sources with a fire-truck. Depends on the fire sources location, but you can, in most(/all) missions. You may do that with an extinguish, again depending on the fire sources location, but you won't be able to extinguish more than 10%/second.
