Title: Events that occur outside Argonath
Post by: Kaze on May 28, 2014, 11:18:02 pm
This is something that I believe should be discussed as a community.

I'm not indirecting the HQ but I am using my situation as I believe it is a very good example.

Long story short, I was banned for ''flaming'' a member of HQ. The member that was flamed decided to forum and ingame ban me because of the ''flaming''.

1) Is it fair if I get banned on both platforms for something that was done outside of Argonath (Skype/Facebook/Twitter and all that)

What are your views of this in general? Do you think that we should 'void' any comments that are given outside of Argonath? This is like the police trying to punish someone but they are out of their jurisdiction (cant ban because it took place somewhere where you can not control what is being said)

Again, I am not here to provoke anyone.

Here's the answer to all your questions about SAMP rules:

Depends who you are.

Its their server, they can do anything they want, deal with it.

Well, it has two sides. Why should you get punished for badmouthing outside the community, but othersides why not?

I recall Gandalf saying something about this, but cannot remember if he said it should be punished or not, so not gonna spread an unconfirmed rumour.

But think of it yourself, why should the community want you, if you talk shit behind people their back or insult them by a personal method (Skype, FB or whatsoever). For me your relationship is only Argonath-based and nothing else than that, so why not punishing you within the same atmosphere?

Just don't talk shit and flame, then this topic was not needed.

You got a point, Kaze

But what happens in Argonath stays in Argonath. Like if you talk ro someone outside Argonath like FB it shouldn't lead you to BAN at Argonath. Thats is far away from his admin duty

Sounds like a good theory.

Admins/Managers/Community Leaders/Divison Leaders.. it is not their server. They are just working for Gandalf to ensure that the server is maintained during his absence. Bare in mind that the event took place outside Argonath so why should they bring that here?

I get what you are trying to say but regardless, it is not fair to bring that here. What I'm trying to say is something similar like you cant metagame. (bring OOC info IC)

You got a point, Kaze

Exactly, it is not under anyones job description to ban players who use external methods to ''flame'' you.

It is connected to Argonath, which is enough to be able to take actions. That has already been stated by Gandalf several times.

I know why you are making this topic, and if you think i mishandled this, then you are welcome to email Gandalf directly and report me.
