Title: Weapon Dealing - Some input
Post by: Teddy on May 29, 2014, 10:05:59 pm
Recently I fixed the /giveweapon scripts which enables the sale and trade of weapons. However the same problem exists here as did in RS4 and there is no real gain in dealing weapons only risk. I like one suggestion from Cofiliano to essentially allow wholesale of weapons where if you buy in bulk you obtain a discount. This way high rollers can buy large amounts of weapons at a discount then sell a a more incentive yet profit bringing price.

Does anyone else have ideas which can help stimulate the illegal weapon trade market?
In terms of Cofiliano's idea.. what should the percentage of a discount be and at what order quantity.

That's too damn much. It should vary in my opinion. At most 10 percent discount.

I've always thought it would be interesting to have certain guns that you can only get hold of from illegal weapon trades (which of course would be illegal to possess as well) and the dealers would buy these guns in bulk from set places on the map similar to the drug system. But seeing as most weapons are readily available in the ammunition it would be hard to implement something like this now.

For the current system how about setting up certain places on the map that change on each server restart (again like the drug system) where gun dealers can buy guns at a discounted price and then sell them on to players. You might think that then players will simply buy their guns from these locations instead of an ammunition but I personally doubt most people will be bothered to search around the map when they can just go to their nearest ammunition or call a gun dealer (unless they are a gun dealer).

Or my second idea could be giving the option in ammunations to buy guns at a discounted price (on a separate menu) which you are only able to sell and not use yourself but the person you sell them to is able to use them (I guess this could be abused though).

Some "basic" fire arms are available at the Ammunation(Deagle, Pump Shotgun, and Country Rifle?), while the others can only be "smuggled" by official illegal mafias/groups. A mafia/group can smuggle for example 3 weapons at a time, and the weapons must be smuggled using a specific truck. Why should this be added?
One, it increases roleplay between official groups and unofficial ones. Two, it limits the amount of DM a normal player can cause. Three, it is a little more realistic than the current system.

I also like being able to retock your ammunation by illegaly-obtained weapons.
