Title: Changing the vehicle system
Post by: brian1996 on June 22, 2014, 04:07:47 pm
Imo it should be changed/improved and be similair to 1.9d.
I mean it's plainly retarded to see vehicles randomly disappearing from the game, same for having to crash 40% of the time by entering a random car.

If this was done, would you want something from the current system to be implemented to the old?

Do you have any ideas on how to improve the old system?

What of the current system's advantages, such as deciding yourself where your car spawns. Would you be willing to let that go to go back to the old vehicle system?

It's nice to be able to park your car, set your own spawnpoint and how you actually buy vehicles but really i find the whole 1.9d system much better.
The vehicle system should not be similair in anyway to samp's implementation (the disappearing of vehicles).

If we are to use the old system it means you will not park your cars where you want or if a vehicle you want is taken you can't have it unless the owner is willing to sell.

The current system requires cars being despawned and spawned according to the situation (I think maximum amount of player owned cars can be 57 or so).

Then again, the script doesn't even work that well since it kills you when despawning a car, instead of first ejecting and then despawning the car.

Like i suggested ingame, it would be nice if it could get rescripted based on the 1.9d system and then add some features like the ability to set a spawnpoint for your car and the complete menu on buying them.
Even the current way of buying vehicles is messy since we've got 2 different ID lists of vehicles, it really has to change.

In all honesty I think the current system is really cool and I haven't really come across any problems myself. This system gives the players more freedom in the way they can buy any car they want and spawn it anywhere they want. The system is also very easy to use, which is a bonus. But of course lets not forget the server is still in BETA and there may be issues that need to be looked at.

Look, the old 'system' wasn't really a system at all. It was just a list of pre-spawned vehicles. There wasn't any bonus or advantage of owning a vehicle. You couldn't move it, you couldn't respray it. It was practically just a state car with your name stamped on it. I don't get how you can prefer it compared to now.

The problems that you complain about:

Speaking of the disappearing vehicles that kill you, isn't it possible to do it this way - let's say someone who owns a cheetah logs out, but someone is still in the cheetah, so the script first checks if the car is empty, and only when the driver or anyone in the car exits the car, despawns it, or gives a notification that driver has logged out and that the car will despawn in 10 seconds?

The script should eject the player before despawning the car, but oh well, it's bugged :D

Earlier, I considered the disappearing act quite good and the best compromise for all players.
But that said I can definitely understand its downsides, and it is a bit artificial. It would be brilliant if we could offer a more settled version. The current system is a good contingency plan for when potentially many people will be owning multiple vehicles.

Fully agree, we must get some refunding after dumping cars.
