Title: [Denied] Jake_Peralta banned by [WS]Dylan
Post by: Techstar on July 07, 2014, 02:26:52 am
Your in-game name:
Jake_Peralta

Ban reason as was stated in-game:
HP Hacks

Admin who banned you:
[WS]Dylan

When you were banned:
July 4, ~2:20-2:25am CEST

Additional notes:
I was not knowingly hacking. I was roleplaying a cop and had being doing so all night until I suddenly got banned in the middle of chasing a suspect. My intention was to play the game fairly and to do so within the etiquette of the community. I would therefore like to request that my ban be lifted as I have since cleaned out my SAMP directory by copying over a new set of SA files and adding only a few harmless mods (cop car and lights).

What modifications or software were you using before that could have altered your game and giving you the benefit of not loosing health/regain health?

I had a whole bunch of stuff accumulated over a few years that autoloaded and kept re-using the same directory for new versions of SA:MP. I'm not sure if my HP was being manipulated but I'm not denying it either, so for the sake of cooperation I fully admit to being at fault. Therefore, I couldn't tell you what it was exactly but I did delete the directory completely and only reapplied the mods that I wanted (a different cop car model, the police lights, and siren audio). None of those reapplied mods would affect HP so I'm confident that if anything in my previous install would have caused any HP manipulation, that they are now out the window for good. I absolutely had no ill intentions and was genuinely shocked and also embarrassed when I received my ban. I intend on being a lot more vigilant in the future in order to ensure that no repeat incidents occur.

My attitude in the game toward other players and the admins has never been a cause of concern and I have always played within the boundaries of the rules and anyone who might remember me could easily testify to that. If it wasn't for my lack of organization, I am absolutely sure that I would never have needed to post in this sub-board.

Why did you ban evade?

Why did you ban evade?
That was my mistake and I fully own up to having poor judgement for making it. The reason why was partly because I knew that I didn't do anything wrong on purpose along with the fact that it was the quickest way back into the game. That's an explanation, not a justification, and I know that it was a bad move. I therefore have no legitimate excuse for it, but please accept my apologies.

If you can behave for 2 weeks then an unban will be considered.

Review 21st of July.

Jesus H. Christ, two weeks is very long! I was not expecting that. I think you all take some delightful ego trips making examples out of people, deserving or otherwise (an entitled opinion, I'd argue). Also, how can I prove to you that I'm behaving (aside from not ban evading) if I'm not allowed in the game? Thanks but I will have to see about coming back in two weeks if I haven't found something better to do by then. Time is money! If not, I'll check in on the 21st! :)

An addendum:

If the thought process for delaying review dates is analogous to sentencing someone to time in jail/prison, then you'd be sorely mistaken. The problem is, when imprisoning someone, they are not free and have nothing to do but think about what landed them in the big house, assuming that they're not misbehaving and up to no good, that is. By delaying people's review times here, you're not punishing them. It's more analogous to bad customer service from a service provider/retailer.

Everyone is spoiled for choice, in fairness. Nobody's going to think about what they've done for very long and lose any sleep over it. So they're not going to sit around twiddling their thumbs in contemplation of the erroneous behavior that got them banned. That's just the reality of the situation. Getting banned ranks very low compared to other worries. It's a game. You're a service provider. We're customers. If the admins believe otherwise, then it's nothing but naive of you. Or, alternatively, you do it to experience a power trip. Regardless, the original intended purpose doesn't get served. It's just something for you all to consider and I felt that it would have been careless of me not to post about it. It's not intended as abuse so don't take it as such.

If nothing else takes my fancy in the next two weeks, I plan on checking in on the 21st for my review. Otherwise...

Thank you for your time.

Bad customer service is usually due to bad customers. In this case, you are the bad customer. Two weeks is relatively short for someone who ban evades, it's usually at least a month. You got me in a good mood, so your review date is lower. The fact that you're a detective at the 99th precinct also helped.
