Title: A guide to honking, and 'Callum Sharp's Honk Buddies'
Post by: Londonian Bus Driver on July 12, 2014, 09:45:21 pm
A 'Honk Buddy' is a person, player or friend, close or otherwise, that you engage in a 'Hello-Bye-Honk' with.

In this thread, I will detail the correct method to 'H-B-H' someone, and also provide my personal list of people who I honk at.

Manors, and detailing on honking a friend;

0. - It is asked you determine whether that player is applicable to a H-B-H. Do you them them? Do they know you? Have you ever engaged in a lengthy conversation with them? And finally, are they considered a friend? If these criteria apply between you, and say, Player-01, then feel free to H-B-H them!

But hey! Not that first, lets go over how to honk...!

1. - Step one will be followed with an example. To H-B-H someone, you must be in a moving or stable vehicle, have a perquisite of personal knowledge of the person, and provide a series of rhythmic 'HONKS{!}' to that person. Following as such:

You are driving past the MGS, at 96 Miles and hour, you're sneaky, so you wont get nicked. You spot another familiar name coming up close to you, in the opposite lane... - STOP! Don't give it the old 'one-two-dot-dot-dot-three', you're not your dad! First, apply a small brake to your speed, as to allow a longer 'Doppler Effect'. The Doppler Effect is the stretching and continuation of an already halted noise, I think. So, you might hear 'HOOOOONK', but they'll hear' HOOOOoooonnkk... *ECHO*'. So, with that in mind, START PLANNING!

How distant are you from the opposing vehicle? Can you create a realistic effect with your horn? Can you pull off the three-way-method I am about to explain?! Well, math it out! - Let's say you're doing 96, and they're doing 73. That's a distance of traveling 12 units a second, for you, and, urm, like 8 for them, something like that. Still. That means your HONK will have priority, as you are traveling a greater speed, and will force RAGE to shoot your doppler effect to a large area, effectively 'drowning-out' their horn.

Another factor is vehicle. If you are mobile in, lets' say, a little two-door racer, then you might not even get a nod, let-alone hear your own horn! Although, being in a massive-arse truck isn't a great help. It just falls back onto the Drowning-out effect I mentioned. Middle ground is the rule. Middle ground. Drive a vehicle with a standardized horn. Like that Ford Fiesta looking thing near the MGS roundabout.

On with the patterning of your horn;

2. - It is asked you follow a standardized traveling speed, doppler effect consideration & vehicle horn regularity before following this patterned step:

2.1 - 'Ahonk-honk, BLONK' - I am not making this up. My horn bind is 'G', so you would, in this instance, perform the following, each G representing a half a second, NOT A KEY PRESS!: G GG GGGG - or in otherwords a 'BEeP-BEEP-BEEEEP'.

2.2 - 'HONK, HONK, HONNNNNNNNNK, honk' - I am not making this up, I swear. GG GGg GGGGggG - or in otherwords a 'BEEP, BEEP, BEEEPING-BEEP!'.

2.3 - 'Blonk-ronk-GONK-beeep' - Promis. G-G-GG_ggg - or in otherwords a 'Beep-beep, BEEP, beeeep'.

- I wish you a happy entail with this tutorial on Honking a Buddy. Now, for my person HONKERs list;

So this is the equivalent of a secret illuminati handshake, just with a crapload of maths added. :D
I think typing /l hi is faster than graphing a sinusoidal wave while adding some modifiers to account for the relative velocities of the 2 vehicles.
This will just end up in a lot of car crashes and death :D

I like honking several times as quickly as I can, while watching my model furiously slapping the steering wheel. Then I do a long continuous honk and watch the models hand hovering over it.

Good times.
