Title: My point of view and some suggestions.
Post by: Tiny on July 24, 2014, 12:01:53 am
This can be locked. However, if you want to read it :
Greetings, everyone;

With my 2nd year Anniversary on Argonath as an occasion, I feel like sharing some of my thoughts, hoping to make each person who reads this think a bit more than he usually does, and take my words into consideration as I only have good intentions.

We've all observed that the complains against Argonath's Roleplay, economy or even administration, have raised a lot and are still raising. The first thing I'm suggesting is not to point fingers on someone or on some group of people. Each one of us has responsibility in everything happening here and everywhere around him/us.

I've seen people complaining even about newbies breaking rules, while experienced veterans act trollish and don't give a damn about the community and what they've gained being here these years. People who have no idea how hard it is to be an administrator keep complaining about how staff members work. Cops provoke criminals, and criminals provoke cops.
And those are just some examples, which clearly show how wrong we're all used to acting.

Where's the respect? How does someone complain about something before even criticising himself? - Without even trying to improve himself by pointing out his own mistakes, instead of pointing fingers on others to feel better?

We should change our motto. Even the purpose of playing on the server has been forgotten. We're ALL here to have fun, not to insult/provoke/disrespect to feel better because we fail to be cool in real life.
*About that style of people, have a look around you. Do you feel proud for even winning an arguement in a game?

Whatever, to avoid going far from the purpose of this post. One of the few reasons I play SA:MP is this community. F**k the server, the rules, the groups and stuff. The community, we all, as real people.
In here I've found friends that have given me better advice than people I daily meet here in my neighbourhood. Don't let shitty reasons keep the community down, stay united and keep in mind that respecting others is the most important principle for good relationships.

This post is not made to provoke/insult/shit on the community. I want to believe that my opinions are based on facts, and I only state them in my Point of View with the hope and purpose to improve things here, because as a part of the community I really think everyone should put some effort, in every way he can.

Of course not everything is correct, if you disagree in some point please do post here so we can discuss.
Base your judgement on the purpose, not on the result.

Thank you for reading,
Mario Williams.

Interesting thoughts. Disagree with a bit, can you guess what? No?

I'll give you a hint.
Some are not on the servers to have innocent fun, they are there to make fun using others, not with, but using others.

I don't see much in this thread that can lead to a positive outcome, personally I am there for the game, not the community, the community is far too diverse, over sensitive, lacking respect, it's not really a community. We're just there playing a game, unfortunately you suffer with people who make it hard for you. But usually you can have a good time. It's more of a cluster of tribes with interests which sometime tribes with other clans or work out for other tribes. I don't see the community.

The "trolling" part? If yes, I'm obviously not talking about the trolling that makes people have fun. The annoying one is what I meant.

Well everyone has their own view on certain points and unfortunately many of them are just plain disrespect to this server.
If you look at it, you see bunch of people complaining, picking on and insulting individuals over whatever the hell it is, whether it be a small disagreement or them getting killed as a criminal, cop blabla.
Where's the fun? There's still a good few of players that are here for the community, to make friends, to have fun else than just playing for their own virtual income so they can be "over the others".
It may not make sense what I just said, but I've been playing here for more than 5 years and I'm glad to say I've gained quite a few people that I can even call a family.
Those people became so close to me that I can talk to about whatever bothers me and ask for advice I never would ask from someone I know from real life.
Hell, some people even changed my life, got me out of a pitch black hole I was stuck in and I never expected to get out of it.
Despite sometimes personally not agreeing with some changes or people here, I'm thankful to this server and community for their each up and down because without it it wouldn't be what it is.
If everyone would have this view of the community, I can grant you that they'd be amazed how many people are playing in the same place as you, with same interest, likely the "same" life story... But have you bothered to interact with them else than provoking, killing their character or whatever?

Therefore, before you judge someone, their work, their view or thought about something, think about it from their side. Think how much effort it took them to do so, to be where they are. You never know their story, what they're dealing with while facing with complaints from all sides.

As I said I've based my statements on facts, in my "point of view" I've only stated the positive things I've gained from the community, which are pretty much the same as yours as I can see. That's why I'm making this post, to make others think and gain the most positive things they can, instead of not behaving.

I don't have much to say, happy two years anniversary ... and I hope that they even become more, what you said is right. We are here to have fun and everyone should keep that in mind... And a suggestion to people who tend to get angry very easy, just like me. I feel you, and I do understand that when you open a fight you either are or believe to be right. I have gotten myself into stupic fights many times in the past ... the outcome? I spented my time on that, had trouble calming down, and the people who were wrong just got away with it because they were abled to maintain a calm attitude, while I didn't. Today is my Three Years Anniversary ... glad that it is on the same day as Alex, and throught these years I've only been tempbanned for either abusing something that i didn't know (once or twice for anime abusing in 2011 or so), and a couple of times for my attitude to the administration when I'm angry...

Yeah, happy 3rd anniversary for you, mate. You're the first ever guy I met on the server and I more or less am where I am because of you.

Simply ignore those who causes problems and let Administration sort them out. With the onset of RS5 and the exodus of players who weren't happy about it, it's the perfect time to influence the new generation of players with the moral standards that Argonath is known for all those 8 years. Replace the bad with the good, fresh players who would eventually lead the other 8 years or more down the road.

Some people are just farrrrrrrr too srs, whether it be about game-related affairs or some nationalistic bullshit being said in /p that they disagree with. These kind of people ruin the atmosphere of the community that is Argonath like whiffing sulfur.

There are also many immature people who use the internet as their ego raiser and take out their lack of any familiarity with the adventures of real life on others. ex dee
