Argonath RPG - A World of its own

Unfortunately Grand Theft Auto MP games in terms of servers are very limited and incredibly difficult to push past these defined limits. This is because the game itself is not built to be played and used in the ways they are being utilized. With this is mind there are more opportunities available and I'm here to see what you think about a few. Almost a month ago we launched a DayZ server which has turned out quite nice and it got some thinking into expansion.
We have already expanded outside of GTA, such as Minecraft and ArmA II DayZ. There have been other ventures which have flaked due to micromanagement issues or the developers going inactive.
Consider the following. Which would you like to see Argonath venture into and create a unique RP experience in?
ArmA 2
ArmA 3
Garrys Mod (DarkRP + Custom or just custom)
Space Engineers (still examining possibilities)
Rust (reboot?)
Custom RPG Minecraft (custom built modifications focused on RPG)

Garry's Mod, definitely. There have been several attempts at it already, which failed mainly because of a lack of capable Developers for it. The interest in the game has always been very strong.

We have extremely talented developers. We can create our own base game and add content and scripts on top. That's right: we create our OWN game to our own liking!

too much expansion will kill off Argonath soon enough with different servers and different games having different beliefs and opinions and then in fighting.

Gmod RP servers are a fucking trainwreck, even compared to GTA RP servers.
Have you guys ever heard about the so called "free games"? I know that you are against pirating, but damn, free games are out there aswell you know.

ArmA 3 Altis Life looks really good, Plus it's currently very popular which gives the potential of bringing in new members to the community, that's got my vote.
Slightly off topic as I know the GTA universe wasn't included in this but if we waited a couple months for the release of GTA V to PC we could even look in to developing an MP mod for GTA V. I know it comes with Multiplayer which is actually very good but it doesn't allow for creating your own servers/scripts as most of you know. This could allow us to create the first RP server for GTA V and if that didn't pick up I don't know what would. Obviously developing an MP mod for GTA V would not be simple in the slightest but I can imagine neither was the development of SAMP and despite it being incredibly buggy and all of it's desync issues it did very well in the past (and is even still going now almost a decade later).

Definitely Garry's Mod. Way more freedom, therefore I mostly play in it. Its much more fun that SA:MP or IV:MP ... Trust me :) I own a GMOD server, got abouts $500 donations from it to keep it alive but currently doing some major changes within the server scripts ...
As for the posts above, suggestions for free games:

Piracy is illegal and never will be supported in Argonath as Argonath will always be legal and will keep like this in the future as Gandalf would never make it allowed it's not that hard to get 10-20 euro to get a game!

Making an entirely custom game could be nice but indeed it'd be too much work if you are going to write your own engine et al.
I am quite excited for a Garry's mod server though, it used to be daily life for me to script/map in there before argonath :lol:

The scripting language Garry Mod servers use is LUA. You can find more about it here (http://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Beginner_Tutorial_Intro).
If we get a couple of intelligent and creative LUA scripters (which I can do), we could create a totally unique Garry's Mod DarkRP server with custom commands, custom playermodels perhaps, custom addons and such...
I am asking for a Garry's Mod server mostly because ArmA 2 tends to lag on some computers or laptops (such as mine) and we'd get to voice chat in-game, create youtube movies and videos, I have an example of my server just a few clips, you can find on youtube.com/user/zlatanyt
I want to mention also that Garry's Mod is definitely much more fun and fast-going, and its easy to administrate and especially myself knowing all the exploits/glitches/client and server sided exploitations.. I'd love to moderate / administrate the Garry's Mod server it'd be hellova fun and an enjoying job since I myself own a server on Garry's Mod (DarkRP and Jailbreak!) :P
I'd like to see what Teddy and others think of this.. But trust me, Garry's Mod for Argonath would be a nice positive change, as we'd get more players that we can interact with (because Garry's Mod is a large player-based game, thousands are online as of right now!! And players like unique, original and self-developing servers since there is a lot of copycats)..
Also for those who do not own this game on steam, please create an account on steam and tell me your name I could perhaps fund you a game such as Gmod, if the server is added that is...

I used to script for a GMOD community, I know it's in LUA hence why I listed it. The community seems to favor gmod and ArmA 2, so expansion into these seem worth investing energy into.

I will now begin drafting a proof of concept for Garry's Mod. This is an unofficial process and does not mean the project is greenlit. This is only going to be a rudimentary design of modules and core functionality intended.
I know someone else is looking into the possibilities of the ArmA 2 server as well.

I agree with you
Most of the community is sort of pessimist ... Did Argonath succeed with VCMP, SAMP, later on IVMP, Minecraft? Thats how it evolved into a community...

It would be difficult to create a game, but, with enough time and dedication it would be possible. Keep in mind making a game isn't just developers... which we have few trustworthy developers left; it's also creating textures... legitimately thousands and thousands of them; it's creating 3d models which we have very few in the community with the ability to professionally create 3d models. It takes years to make a game and often upwards of over a hundred thousand dollars... and that's for a team of hundreds. Even creating a basic game in unity would take a huge amount of commitment.
Plans already exist to create a game, and those plans have been in the early phases for years. The lack of what I mentioned is the key failure slowing down reaching the production stage.

A little, little bit. Have tried it while scripting for MTA:SA and planning to learn it better. Next goal is SQL and LUA.
