greetings all, hope you are well.
since I am quite bored at the moment and have a few minutes to take my mind off the quite pressurizing life tasks that have been put upon me, I will take a minute to type out a question I've been meaning to ask for a substantial amount of time now.
the sentence 'please speak English only, this is an international server' - is it just me or is this sentence extremely contradicting? I mean the first clause delivers a message completely opposite to the one that is stated in the second clause.
discuss! :D

This is a server rule as it's international server and all the people are from different country in every country English is a must learn in school this is why we use it. You could always speak with some one in other language using the Private Massage in the forums or the /pm ingame.

Nope, it's not contradicting, because English is pretty much an official international language of lots of unions, organisations and groups, Argonath being one of them, so yeah.. English is pretty much an international language. American English and UK English, on the other hand - hardly, even though its just a difference of accents.

A very fair question. : )
On the one hand we are are trying to promote diversity and the global aspect of this community.
Yet, it almost appears as if we are restricting this quality at times.
I think in future, all rules & server messages should say something along the likes of 'Please speak English in the main chat. This enables more players to participate/this gives more players the chance to remain involved'

True. It also stops the main chat getting messy with various languages plus it's easier to administrate.

You could also take the best of it, when i joined Argonath i didn't know English that good but the expressive here helped me not only to communicate around the game but in school also.
