Title: EFLC update issue
Post by: Kerbe on December 27, 2014, 08:05:56 pm
Good day everyone.
For some time now I've been trying to play the new multiplayer client, MultIV. I even bought the CD version of Episodes From Liberty City for this occassion. MultIV requires EFLC patch 2 (version 1.1.2.0) to run, and that is my problem: I cannot update the game.

Everytime I run the setup.exe, it immediately shows an error which redirects me to a log file. In the logs, I can see this:
Quote from: log
Launching Title Update: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\EFLC\setup.exe" /selflaunch
Launching: C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\EFLC\TitleUpdate.msi ACTION=INSTALL REINSTALLMODE=amus LAUNCHEDVIASETUP=1 APPLICATIONROOTDIRECTORY="C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\EFLC" TRANSFORMS=:Instance1 MSINEWINSTANCE=1

InstallFolderFromMSI:
InstallFolderFromRegkey: C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\EFLC\
OriginalProductCode:
InstallFolderRegkeyProp: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Rockstar Games\EFLC
Failed

I have no clue what to do with this information, so I hoped someone here does. I've been sweeping Google for hours in order to find possible solutions, and here's what I've tried so far:

One thing that floats on my mind is somehow editing the register, however not even Google, filled with people with similar
issues, offers no help on this, and all of solutions I have found are not appliable on my case for some reason.

So, any advice except reinstalling Windows is welcome as I am getting desperate. I am running on Windows 7 Professional 64bit. Help me, Argonath support, you are my only hope.

Kerbe

Trying to extract the TitleUpdate.msi content (for some reason, it didn't even extract)
Were you running TitleUpdate.msi or TitleUpdate.exe? I'm not sure if it would cause your error, but I know with GTA IV in the past, I had a multitude of issues getting the patches to install correctly, based on which one I ran, as one would automatically run the other.

Two files (not just two, but these are the executable ones) come with the patch: setup.exe and TitleUpdate.msi. When trying to run TitleUpdate.msi, it tells me to use setup.exe, and when using setup.exe, I get the error.
