Title: UK's Winter Blues.
Post by: [NP]Monte Montague on January 18, 2015, 09:53:25 pm
Fresh in the memory of many Brits, the previous winters were there has been snow has lead to the UK struggling to cope with services stretched, the elderly and frail dying in large numbers along with people biting their nails hoping that their homes will not be flooded any time soon.

This year we see the coldest night in the UK on record (for this year according to the Met Office) with between -12 % -9 degrees C for Scotland, Ireland and Northern England. With Southern England seeing as highs as -2. The temperature of-course getting warmer as you come away from the direct path of those Arctic Winds.

Hospital A&E's are struggling to cope with an overwhelming demand for medical attention.
In some parts of England, the Police have complained of having to routinely give patients a lift to A&E after no ambulance arrived. Generally the NHS is trying to insist if it is not an emergency, not to visit the A&E.

For Argonithians living in the UK, if you've listened to the radio recently you may recall on some stations to keep an eye on the elderly and those with disabilities as even a simple illnesses, mixed in with this kind of winter, could prove to be fatal.

As I Finnish this off, I can feel the cold in my fingers, in what is the warmest room of the apartment. I wouldn't even dare to open a window right now!
