Hey there. I just wanted to share my not so nice expierence about cigarettes and the devil in smoke it brings.
So basically, the last few weeks were very stressful to me with certain events that took place in real life, and I resorted to most desperate measures of calming myself down. Yup. Cigarettes. I didn't get used to them, thank God I've been gifted with some kind of addication resistant ability (I was drinking coffee like water for like 5 months but after noticing it impacts my blood pressure, I've stopped and don't have any withdrawal headaches or other side effects of like four weeks now, hehe). Anyhow, lately I've started exercising at my rich ass friend who has a freaking gym in his basement, and I've been exercising very hard for two days, and after each exercise we'd have a cigarette. Now the fact is, during all these flu epidemics which take place at this time of the year in Lithuania I would usually never succumb to them. But as you all know, Cigarettes have a very negative impact on your immune system. So today I woke up with temperature, a sore throat and dry (most likely due to smoking) and an awful pain in the muscles i exercised due to the fact that having a flu and having just exercised is not a very nice mix. So, kids, stay away from cigarettes. Drink milk. Peace.

I doubt that was all caused by cigarettes, lol. You need to be smoking for years for problems to appear. It's not that you smoke one cigarette and boom, your health is now doomed.
-
Drink alcohol.
Argonath recognizes that a part of the community is underage. Therefore, the following is prohibited:
Promotion of usage of alcohol, drugs and other stimulating substances. We respect the freedom of choice, however people should be respecting that others who have different beliefs and choices have this right as well.
Nononono.

So you're saying don't smoke, just smoke when you exercise so you starve your body of oxygen when exerting yourself. :neutral2:

Drink alcohol.
Get your facts straight please. Alcohol is the worst drugs on this planet.
So, kids,
You're fucking 17 years old. Please...

Post fixed. Promote something better.

Smoking can cause symtoms to some at the very start. I, for one, was smoking for 4 years and I have to say it changed a lot about the way my body behaves to external agents. The worse was at the very start. I felt headaches, dry throat, urge to spit, frequent cold etc but after a while it was alright.
The start isn't very harmful, the real danger comes afterwards. But human bodies do react to it differently; some catch cancer after a couple of years, some do after decades. Are you willing to take that risk? Thought so.

I said do not smoke at all..
I said that is something I was doing that was not the smartest move eh.

Scientists have found that not being able to understand sarcasm might be a sign of brain damage. I would visit a doctor if I were you.
And also, if you think that smoking is better or healthier or w/e than consuming alcohol than you're out of your mind.
And sure. Because drinking at a party with friends is definately worse than injecting heroin every now and then. Are you 12?
You're f**king 17 years old. Please...
Considering the age youngsters start smoking and drinking at today. I am pretty old, yes. I had my first taste of alcohol and got drunk (moderately) when I was 16. My first cigarette was smoked when I was 17. Considering todays standarts, I'm "lame". And old.

That's why I'm torching my Winston Classic before I get addicted. :)

Every body reacts to poison differently. Ones die quick, while others die a slow and painful death :D
-
You must be 12 too.
Every body reacts to poison differently. Ones die quick, while others die a slow and painful death :D
There is some truth behind it though.
Drugs can actually give you some interesting experiences, compared to cigarettes who don't give you close to the same effect as other stuff. Cigarettes is a waste of money, while drugs, in some cases is certainly not!
-
an awful pain in the muscles
Sore muscles after physical activity, known as delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), is common when beginning a new exercise programme, changing your exercise routine, or increasing the duration or intensity of your regular workout.
When muscles are required to work harder than they're used to, or in a different way, it is believed to cause microscopic damage to the muscle fibres, resulting in muscle soreness or stiffness. DOMS is often mistakenly believed to be caused by lactic acid build up, however, lactic acid is not involved in this process,
Thats not the cig`s fault :p

In my case, they were not useless. They helped me calmed down which is very important through the constant stressful routine I go through :). But I'll rather be nervous than dead :).

You are. You just smoked a cigarette, lol.

It's all in the mind, believing that making use of something like smoking will actually reduce stress.
-
:app:
Thank you.
-

This.
If you believed a glass of milk will calm you down then it'll probably do the trick. It's not in what you use, but what you believe in ;)
-
Every body reacts to poison differently. Ones die quick, while others die a slow and painful death :D
And to add to that, one must know that it will eventually get to you. You don't get to put poisonous chemicals into your system everyday and expect your body to let you get away with it.
There is some truth behind it though.
Drugs can actually give you some interesting experiences, compared to cigarettes who don't give you close to the same effect as other stuff. Cigarettes is a waste of money, while drugs, in some cases is certainly not!
Soft drugs are basically smoking. And I'm not even going to begin talking about serious drugs (injections, powder inhaling)..
In my case, they were not useless. They helped me calmed down which is very important through the constant stressful routine I go through :). But I'll rather be nervous than dead :).
I pity those who use drugs to cope with stress. Good that you made the right decision.
On a side note, drinking alcohol with moderation is proven to be healthy for the body and mind. (only if you're older than 18 or in some cases, 21 :D )
-
It's all in the mind, believing that making use of something like smoking will actually reduce stress.
That's so true.
When I am stressed, I smoke a lot more, so yeah it's not actually reducing stress, it's just you thinking of that more and more and smoking.
Quitting it is the best thing somebody can do, unless you like it so much like I do. :P

99 percent of all life time smokers die of Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) and my grandparants was no exception.
5 percent of world wide population is affected on COPD(329 million people) and 3 million people die every year. Making it the third biggest cause of human death.
All this is often related to smokers or people who live/work in very dusty areas(unhealthy places)
"The number of deaths is projected to increase due to higher smoking rates and an aging population in many countries. It resulted in an estimated economic cost of $2.1 trillion in 2010."
-
11,851,044,198Cigarettes smoked today
585,867Deaths caused by smoking this year
293,118Deaths caused by alcohol this year
-
I watched my dad slowly die over the year since he was diagnosed with lung cancer.
Trust me, this isn't something that you want to go through, or have your future family go through it as well.
Now, I don't care if you guys smoke or whatever.. that's your choice. To those who are thinking to start smoking... think real hard, there's other ways to relieve stress.
-
Your death must have some cause, so at least enjoy it.... :balance:
Now I am one of the very few who has never tried smoking (just lived with people who did) nor any type of drugs. That is except alcohol, which in general has very little effect on me. while not experiencing the 'good side'people talk about which somehow I believe will not be in my capability to experience, I have seen the negative effects of all type of drugs up close.
And believe me even the mildest drugs can make someone a completely different person without them noticing.
Try to do what I do and do not be influenced by any type of drug, keep your mind clear and calm.
Before taking anything look at people around you who use it and try to notice how different they behave. Do not like what you see? remember you will become like them.
-
You just have angina (http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/health-topics/topics/angina), though if you're considering to start smoking just don't, you don't really want to struggle the effects in the future and you also don't want to see your family seeing you in such condition...

-Has been edited, mistakenly replied.
Now that I posted anyway, why don't you consult a medical professional if you're worried about your health?

I also have allot of friends that smoke every kind of cigarettes....smoke weed....even in front of me sometimes...that doesn't mean I should try it....I am 22 years old and I've never smoked anything and never put alcoholic drinks in my mouth....I've seen peoples lungs on doctors graphs and ye.....black shizzle.....that's what smoking does....If I used one of this it would have been weed....Anyone ever heard a single person died from smoking weed? nah....from smoking? hell yea...they die but they die slowly....fuck smoking fuck alcohol >.<
-
Anyone ever heard a single person died from smoking weed?
From the substance itself, no.
From actions after using that drug, yes.
-

I was mostly talking about the substanve itself, what happpens next its the responsibility of the one smoking it...
-
I have never touched cigarette simply because of the many bad experience I have had. My father's close friend (who I also knew personally) died from something that was caused by smoking too many cigarettes. Most of my friends and family members smoke but I have always avoided them while smoking as being a passive smoker since childhood, I have always hated the smoke getting into my nose, causes irritation. A month back I did try weed, I didn't like it. It's not easy for me to start smoking as I have severe allergy to dust particles.
I occasionally drink heavily but it doesn't really affect me too much. The reason for drinking occasionally being that I drink with my friends and they tend to get violent when someone they don't know annoys them and that I am a casual drinker, I drink to enjoy the night or something, not to get high and cry cause some girl friendzoned me.
Also those saying that very light smoking doesn't affect you in anyway. Even passive smokers die. The moment you become a smoker, you're damaged.
-
I also have allot of friends that smoke every kind of cigarettes....smoke weed....even in front of me sometimes...that doesn't mean I should try it....
You already tried it, passive smoking is worse than normal smoking.
-
From the substance itself, no.
From actions after using that drug, yes.
If the one using weed has a brain, it only affects it positively, as there are things you really can't think of without smoking. Trust me on this. What actions could somebody do after smoking a joint? :neutral2:
-

99 percent of all life time smokers die of Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) and my grandparants was no exception.
It is not only cigarette smokers but also, weed smokers and any smokers in participial. COPD can be caused by normal dust, if you live long enough in a unhealthy place where you breath in things that shouldn't be in your lungs, you can and will after a while get COPD. But smokers in general get is way earlier even though they normally would have got it maybe at the age of 80+. COPD can be developed in less than 10 years of smoking and the side effect is coughing, more heavy breating and the ability to decrease the oxygen intake for your body. At older age, your lungs will collapse and you die.
But I agree, weed may be better in some condition, but it's pretty new too. Weed is like the old days cigarette when doctors told that it was the pure medicine. Doctors even sometime gave away subscriptions of cigarettes in the early days of the time of industrialization. Just like weed can have good effects on your body, it has also downfall that has been proven be cause of weed smokers; for example Schizophrenia and other brain accomplished negatives.

Yoske..if there is such people who prefer heroin or other drugs..so let them be.
Who are we to judge

Well speaking of my health. That same day I posted this topic my temperature rised to 38.5. I went to bed and by the time my mother got back from work and brought home some paracetamol, it was 39.2 and fell down after paracetamol.
Now the day afterwards I had temperature of 40 for over an hour so we were forced to call an ambulance. It appears I have a very strong virus infection.
-
It shouldn't be caused by smoking though. Sure it probably affected your immunity system but it's the middle of flu season so no wonder you caught it.
Severe symptoms should pass in 3-4 days as for most of people. Last year I also had higher than 40°C, ended up in ER and all I got was a blood test and lay on their bed for hours.
If you got the blood test, what was your CRP?
(btw Paracetamol is usually ineffective for such high temperatures)
-
Cigarettes are okey, its just not for mentally weak people. I smoked for three years, never got addicted and could stop whenever I wanted, now Im smokefree and only take a smoke twice every weekend after work.
-

Keep telling yourself that.

There are still things in world that can be considered as normal and as completely opposite...
-
If you want smoke if you don't want don't smoke pls

now Im smokefree and only take a smoke twice every weekend after work.

> still smokes on "weekends"
Dat logic tho

:uhm:

To be fair it is possible for some people, if they don't smoke that much to begin with.

I'm not saying his point was a good one to start with, but that analogy is garbage and you know it.
-

It depends on what you call positive.
Loss of cencentration, loss of ability to memorize things, lower reaction speed, inability to cope with stress without usage.
Does not really seem very positive ot me, but to each his own...
-
Best bro tip ever, don't even take one single hit.

Look here dude. We are talking here about bein addicted, not about who is addicted to some sort of crime. Dafaq you talking about ? Follow the topic and don't relate it to such things.
Tyvm :janek:
-
Thankyou for sharing it, man!
You made me hate smoking. :)
-
Here is the deal,
Smoking reduces the quality not quantity of life.
-
To be fair it is possible for some people, if they don't smoke that much to begin with.
Cigarettes contain numerous addictive substances, objectively speaking. You could be addicted and you don't even know it.
The only way to find out is to quit, then you get to see if you're really addicted or not.
-
(Made by accident)

Well sure, but some people actually do quit for months at a time or forever completely cold turkey with little issue.

For the past few days I was having temperatures up to 38 - 38.5

When I was 5 years old, my dad purposely left a pack of cigarettes on the table within reach of me and my brothers. My brother had the idea to try one, of course being the youngest of the crew I tagged along. To put a long story short, it was the worst experience of my life and because of it to this day I don't smoke cigarettes.

From actions after using that drug, yes.
Can you elaborate "actions after using that drug" please? Not going to advocate weed usage, just curious. Because from my observations and experience on "actions after smoking weed" are limited to watching stuff, laughing, talking and eating.

That doesn't answer my question. It has nothing to do with what you said. If you don't want to answer, that's fine.

My stoner friends are actually pretty cool when high. Never saw an instance of violence lead by smoking it to be honest.
-
It depends on what you call positive.
Loss of concentration
The exact opposite. You can concentrate on one thing so much during the affection that you won't believe.
However, the point is that you should not block yourself from trying things you want to, but yeah, add your own limits on things and you will be fine. Yeah smoking is bad for health, but who said it's better for me not to smoke when I feel like smoking one. I will get stressed as f**k, and yes a cigarette will calm me down.
So yeah, if you want you can smoke, if you don't want don't smoke. Just make sure your decision is what you really want to do.

I ain't even gonna read comments but: Ya'll need to quit being so immune to being human. I was smoking for 2 years, then quiet for 6 months, then started again, and quit again, half a year since I haven't smoked now, no big deal, we all die anyway.
Peace,
Asta

From my experience as the franchise owner of many McDonald's across the nation, I can tell you that a good way to quit smoking is to eat more McDonald's. You can even puff on a french fry to help but I would advise not lighting it. Our French fries are born from premium potatoes such as the Russet Burbank and the Shepody. With zero grams of trans fat, these epic fries are crispy and golden on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
If you want to go cold turkey, I would advise eating at least 4 big macs a day. Make sure to spread them over your daily schedule with at least 2 hours between each burger. The chemical process in your body will replace the nicotine addiction with ground beef.

I'll have two Chicken Big Macs with extra cheese double up each, so four patties each burger, one with large fries and coke(pepsi is not ok) and the other without, a salad with chicken and two packs of Caesar dressing along with it, two 9 pieces of chicken nuggets with BBQ dressing and a packet of Caesar dressing, 21 pieces of McBites with no fries or drink, two McFlurries, one Cookies n Cream and one Chocolate, and a large Apple juice, all take away please.
