Title: GTA IV DRM BS.
Post by: CharlieKasper on March 19, 2015, 06:12:59 pm
My laptop doesn't have a DVD Drive so I decided to use my PC to get the ISO copies of both the disks of GTA IV and use the ISO copies to install it on my Laptop.

I got through the process fine. Installed R* Club, GFWL and GTA IV and later the Update 7 of GTA IV.

Opened R* Club to log into it and when I press play. This happens.

Now since I don't have a DVD drive. What do I do?

I can't register the key to Steam since it's one of those very first copies of GTA IV/EFLC that wasn't supported by Steam. R* was a bitch and didn't allow me to register those on steam as well when I contacted them.

PS. I would like to play GTA IV inbuilt online so xliveless pls

You legally bought the game, and used those files to install the game?
I need to make sure you got it legal in order to help you further  :gand:

Right. Perhaps you could try to "Crack" the game. I don't mean to make the game illegal, but just a simple fix so you don't need a DVD to run the game.

@Martijn Whoa, no. Not even if you didn't mean to lead someone to use pirated products. You better contact him personally, not in Argonath forums.

@CharlieKasper As far as I am aware, Rockstar Games Social Club is not needed if Update 7 (1.0.7.0 I guess) is installed. Remove it and then run your game by opening the file "LaunchGTAIV.exe" which is located in the directory of GTA IV. That may also help you: SecuROM Removal (https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200144896-Information-about-SecuROM-Removal)

As I said, it ain't illegal since he bought the game. He will only modify it so he doesn't need the disc to run it.

Cracking the game will just make it pirated. Not something I'd recommend. And Martijn, supporting a player to crack a game is against the Argonath rules.
