Title: GTX 750 ti or GTX 660 Ti? or any other?
Post by: psyron on May 22, 2015, 08:29:07 am
so it seems my GTX 650ti 1GB is not enough for the games thats been released lately and i presume i need a more powerful one. i bought it just a couple of months back and 1GB was the biggest mistake.

looking to buy a new one around 200-250$. i have my eyes on GTX 750ti 2gb, but there is this GTX 660ti which seems to be way more powerful than the former.

could anybody suggest a better option? (only NVIDIA)

my pc specs -

i5
8gb ram
gtx 650ti

I have a GTX 660 ti and I'm satisfied.

Performance wise go for the 660 Ti.

Future support wise, go for GTX 750 Ti. The maxwell arch has full DX 12 support. The Keplar doesn't support all DX 12 features.

What games are you playing?

I'm not completely aware of the prices, though 780Ti might be in that range, while still having great performance (more or less same as current Maxwell ones). GTX 960-970 are probably out of your price range (not sure about second-hand prices). Otherwise go for the 660 Ti.

As for DirectX 12...it's a nice bonus, but it will take quite a while before games start making use of it (developers need to include DX12 support).

A GTX 960 is around $220 w/o shipping fee on Amazon, ships worldwide. My guess is that it's your best at this range.

gta 5, arma 3 and most recently witcher 3. the main problem is the VRAM. my 650ti is a great card but if only i had bought a 2gb one..

well yes according to my local price list, they are out of my budget range. i did a mistake buying the 650ti of 1GB, dont wana repeat the same mistake again.

second hand is never an option in regards to computer peripherals, have some bad experiences  :kilt:

its around 350$ in my country and i cant buy from amazon since i dont have a cc. i can only buy it from my local online store with my debit card

Some debit cards can also be used to buy from online (I do that, don't have credit card either).

If you are playing on FullHD, I'd suggest having 3 or 4GB of VRAM though. If you can, save up some more money and go for something that has better performance and amount of vRAM.

have to wait for like 2-3 more months for that which can be a little heavy on my patience level :D, but yea can consider that

is 750 any good though? its best on my budget and i can save up some cash to buy gaming mouse and keyboard too

You wouldn't see any major performance increase, apart from the larger memory. If these 2 are your choices, go for 660 Ti.
