Hello,
It's been quite of a bit of time since we've taken over the development RS5 from the new team and streamed in the rolling RS5.1 updates. Our focus on the newer RS5.1 has been the proper implementation of RS5 features, addition of intended functionality, and bug fixes. We've also take special attention to communicate and keep a dialogue open with the community about future and progression of the scripts. We know we haven't done perfectly, but we wanna make sure we're on the right track... from you guys.
So, tell us how we're doing. Let us know what you've liked, what you'll like to see, and what you'd like to see less of. Your feedback will help us shape development in the coming weeks and months. These next couple weeks are critical as we lead into the summer era where the server will be at it's peak. I'm hopeful of the potential outcome for these months.
Kind Regards,
Teddy

Teddy you and the rest of the Script team are doing an excellent job, I have nothing more to add, keep it up guys :app:
-
Pretty much all the scripts are fine, only issue I have is the fact that people currently just rinsing the hell out of trucking etc, I feel that the more and more we add scripts what involve earning cash by doing minimum RP are just killing the server, don't get me wrong trucking's cool, and so is this horse script but we are losing our "Role-play" manner because 50% of the server want to truck or just stand in a gambling shop.
In terms of scripting, couldn't do any better to be honest.
-
Even though there's a set of people who isn't happy with the current team. And there are others who don't like the way the old team left. There's one thing clear. The server is moving forward scriptwise in your hands, is it a good way or a bad one? That I don't know. But atleast we're moving. I like how you try to keep the community updated, I think that as a team, you're moving down the right path.

Loris said it all ! Keep up the good work guys :app:

Business script.

There are some CMDs that I'd like to see as : /speedometer, someone told me about that script, it was a RS4 script. I wanted to see that..
And also if possible to add a radio(/r) also for mechanics... :app:
Thanks.
-
Yeah i'd like to see basic functions such as a storing system for weapons and skins, and profitable business system.
-
Scripting team has been doing great work since the new team stepped in. I'm very impressed and satisfied with the work, and as long as you remain open to new ideas from community members I have no problem with the route we are taking!
PS. I would also like to see more innovative ideas from our mapping team, I know we are at two so far and plan to expand further, but that's something I've always noticed lacked for several years is the initiative to implement new maps that set Argonath apart from other servers, I would like to see some consideration for small things like this that give the server a refreshed sort of feel.

Business script.

These are both things we were left with very little foundation to build up on, we're working on rewriting existing foundations so we can then create these functionalities. There is a developer on the team, Mikro, dedicated to just these things.

I believe more attention should be put into this, and not only left to one developer.

Sounds like the same bunch of people.
Unhappy because scripting progress is actually happening for the first time in over a year, unhappy when the current team actually involves players in development.
Unhappy because the last team that hadn't shown anything in months and didn't take players opinions into consideration left.
People will never be pleased unfortunately.
-
I didn't like the way how the other team left though but, everything seems cool overall, just one thing. Less ignoring to the new players, there are some of them whom have brilliant ideas, actually.
-
Please remember this topic is not meant to point out the flaws that cannot be fixed by scripts, "ignoring" new players is something that needs to be worked on by administration not by scripts. Leave this topic to it's intended purpose, it is meant to discussion the status and progression of RS5 and our new development team.
Any other concerns should be directed towards [email protected] or individuals such as Devin, Rusty, iMarkz, and other high ranking server leaders that can address those problems directly.

Script-wise everything is ok.
I highly recommend, as a community, we discuss the rules and regulations within the server. The rules and regulations are getting ridiculous now and it's time we all sat down and establish new rules that are 'firm but fair'.
As it is banter, I will not reveal the player's name but saying in /p 'shut up' surely would of gotten him a /warn or a /banana. He has been doing this frequently and no admin action has been taken whereas a few months back he would of got one of the punishments. Telling others to shut up is now acceptable? Once we issue these new rules and regulations which are firm but fair, everything will fall into place eventually. Rules and Regulations are the foundation of a server and if we can't get that right the server will crumble. Hundreds of veterans left for this reason.

Im not familliar with the scripting team changes but the scripts are finally getting better. Good job and thanks.

You're doing...simply amazing.

Just because you do not see a public punishment it does not mean nothing is done, back in my days most of these situations were handled by admins PM, and we come back to the point where people would get angry wether someone they reported is not punished while he was but just not publically.
On topic; Can not judge any scripter like few did, Everyone from beggining did a great job.. I do not forget the work of CBFasi, Xcasio, David, Louis, Conroy, Zaila.. and can not demand anything more.. The basic role of RS5 was to be a rewritten RS4 with no lag unless I am wrong, and yes we have this :)
I still remember RS3-RS4 with constant 5-10min crashes...
What I would like to see more is, mini events.. for example, I remember back in 2012-2013 we did have mini DD's over glen park for even 1 single 50k prize... I miss those times :) (Whereas most of the time, the prize was donated by either a player or by any admin) The point is not $$, since we do have scripted ways to get $$.. but for Events which the few days I've got back active, I've seen none over the classic player-pm quiz...
I'm very happy to see you taking in consideration the players' opinion, this way hopefully there will be more pleased players.
:PS: Thanks for the Jungle DnB radio station! And keep up the great work!

There has happen more the past weeks than it has happen in the last year. You're all doing a fantastic work. We are waiting for the business script and some major changes on that part but overall, you'll done a great job so far!
-
I believe more attention should be put into this, and not only left to one developer.
Devoting an entire developer is pretty much the maximum attention they can give it.

Group bank system. :( Please! :(

But he's working on two systems ?
-
After all transitions you are doing well.
-
But he's working on two systems ?
He's working on an item system, then containers which lead up to business profit and house storage. You need a working foundation before you can build up :) ... you can't build a sand castle with no sand...
He was working on this before the transition so found it best to leave him on it. The rest of us are either on bug fixing, feature enhancement (making existing features more functional/better/faster etc), or on new features.
-
When will we be seeing Computerrichy joining the team? I hope to see him soon.
Also once again I can see Spikmun has settled in, the start of RS5 was a slow start and we seemed to not be going further, but the past months, we haven't had a chance to sit back and admire the new scripts because we've just been bombarded with more and more, to be honest, all of the script ideas are mint, and we are developing as a server really thoroughly.
I speak with everyone else, we do need a Buisness Owner script to come into play soon, and I tell you that will be it, we all will be sold ;)
All the best Teddy and co.
-
Comparing to the period before this developing team took things into their hands, its a massive change no one can denied that.
There's alot of things that needs to be done, specially the priorities such as business profit, drug script, storing items in houses etc.
If the previous developing was 2/10, I would give this developing team a strong 8, not only on the work you've done so far, yet the fact there's no ego or authism among scripters, the honest will to listen to ideas and suggestions and actually talk to people, specially about things scripters have low life experience on(drugs or horse racing i.e.), is the best thing about this team. Cause there's no point in building a script, if its gonna be completly wrong and eventually useless for the community, its just the waste of time then.
You guys started this really good, but this is just the start, and there's alot of work infront of you, if you continue to develop with the same time spent, devotion, and speed, you'll definitly create an amazing server.

f**cking computerrichy
filled my entire minecraft fortress with cobblestone contraptions, a straight up diamond spawner, mob farm
he's basically a genius

not to be a pain in the ass, but how is it going with adding of the rest of the furnitures? such as posters, flags, trash, food-items etc? if i remember correctly you said that those were to be added in some topic :)

Everything is fine and dandy, but we'd like to know whether these will be coming out soon :)

We have the foundation of the item system done, we're now proceeding to update older systems to use the new item system. This will enable us to add these new items with ease.

The system is mostly finished, unfortunately my status (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/index.php?topic=113342.0) is currently stopping me from releasing this today.
As of now, the list of wearable objects is over 100 items. I only have a list in a database and not something I can easily share :P

I thought you guys were working on adapting the current systems to work with the logistics script?
Do you think it will be ready by the end of summer?

Storing is apart of logistics system. The logistics system cannot work without the storing element.
I hope so but I cannot make any promises as it's not me creating it.

I'd like to have /cbdata [id] added again. As a member of CMB, when I'm performing a passport exam, I'm required to ask player X if has a CB radio, and since there is no longer that command, I have no other option but to trust on his word. As far as I'm concerned, he may say he doesn't have one and without my knowledge, he's getting help from player Y through the CB radio.

you and the applicant could join a random cb channel together during the exam to satisfy your concern?
-
We do that already.
The point is, in the past couple of weeks, a few players have tried to trick us into giving them passports, even though they didn't fulfill all the requirements. Not every player that enters the community is honest.
As I previously said, there's no way we can be sure that player X has a CB Radio or not. He may claim that he doesn't have one, and behind our backs, he's getting the answers from player Y.
If there only was a way for us to figure out if player X has a CB radio, we can prevent that from happening.

Unlock the limitation of group vehicles. Its annoying as fuck. There is no reason for this mindless restriction, specially now, that most the state cars are gone. Those cars are sitting around owned by players anyway.
Or at least restrict it to 10 vehicles. This doesn't really take much scripting or efforts, just a change in a code, so please for the love of pasta, remove this annoying nonsense.
-
We do need limits as the server has limits. I'll increase it again in our next update.
-
May the person who's is charge of the work with the storing script please step forward? He has had months to work on it, shouldn't it be done by now? What's the approximately time left until it's done?

Unfortunately it will be some time until a storing script is ready as it is inter-linked with the business script Mikro is busy working on and can only be released once he completes that bulk update.

Remove the 'min 100 ammo' validation rule.
We were told it would be removed, is there a reason it hasn't yet?

I'd also like you to add back the stairs on those platforms on the ocean at SFAP. It's exhausting to swim all the way back to land when you fall, by accident, into the sea.
Not sure whether there is a reason behind the removal of those stairs, but if there is, please do tell me, and ignore this request.

In progress still, check the trello thingy.

I said it ingame to you Teddy but I'll say it again. We could really use a simple RS4 style storage script while Mikro works on the /containers stuff. It's such a vital component of Argonath and more than we had in RS4 isn't really needed, although could prove beneficial.
Just 5 or 6 storage slots for guns and 5 or 6 for skins. This would be such a simple yet huge improvement and a good temporary solution to the lack of the complicated storage script of which we don't even have an ETA.
-
i'll be honest, after checking things out for a while and seeing that "oldtimers" are gone, no offense to them, but old staff compared to current SAMP advancements might as well had done nothing.

i'll be honest, after checking things out for a while and seeing that "oldtimers" are gone, no offense to them, but old staff compared to current SAMP advancements might as well had done nothing.
I have been back from a 1.5 year absence for a little more than a week and was able to settle back in nicely. Knowing the members of both the old and current scripting teams, the progress is clear to me, even if it hasn't immediately reflected in player count yet. (compared to RS4 levels) You rarely see topics like this in the past. And given what this community has been through, with challenges on the HQ/Staff end, it's remarkable that it's holding together the way it is.
It's natural for "oldtimers" to go. As someone who joined in 2008, more than 3/4 of people I regularly played with are gone. The average player joins in their teens, and as time goes by, takes on more and more RL responsibilities. (i.e. Uni, work, marriage) So it's natural to see people go, because unless you're lucky enough to have an online-based job (or are a bum who has no life), you cannot spend as much time at the PC because your priorities change.
I'll admit that Argonath had its share of trouble with taking in new ideas, and I was a part of it in the past, sometimes crossing the line between preserving the community's essentials and blocking off new ideas altogether. But right now, Teddy and his team are working hard. One thing they (and we, as a community) don't need is people like you talking shit and telling them they won't get anywhere.
-
Since someone bumped this anyways..
You are doing great. We could never have achieved this much with the old RS4 development team that consisted of people who only scripted/developed/did what they thought was needed, rather than what the players wanted. If we still had the old HQ, FLA would have been shut down by now, instead the new team tries to negotiate a solution for both sides without having to penalise either. That is something that is a positive change towards better Argonath.
-
But right now, Teddy and his team are working hard. One thing they (and we, as a community) don't need is people like you talking shit and telling them they won't get anywhere.
Alright, since you seem condescending as always, I might as well rephrase it to keep this simple.
Teddy and his team, at this point, IMO, had done a LOT more in the past couple of months, than the old staff had done in the last couple of years.
Compared to the way things have been handled pre-Teddy taking things over, it was felt that developers basically bailed on the players and server completely, not hearing what players want. Teddy nowadays is working his ass off to cater to the players, that deserves enormously high praise. The old way of server owners/developers handling things was unnecessarily conservative and had out-of-date values for user satisfaction. Judging by advancements nowadays, the server, to me, seems more and more interesting to get back to.
