Title: Improved Horse Betting (Decimal Odds)
Post by: Teddy on June 05, 2015, 04:42:14 am
Hello,

After some 1 on 1 discussion with Cofiliano, we've come up with a newer more realistic odds-based betting system that utilizes the common decimal betting system. You can still find the horse wins, races, and losses using /findhorse as well as it's training performance. However, let's saying horse Mackenize has odds of 3.3 and you bet $5,000... this means if you win you'll earn $16,500 where as, if you bet on a horse with odds of 6.2, and wager $5000 you'll stand to make $31,000. There is also a 6th horse that'll be in the horse races.

This updated system should be ready by Sunday.

Could you also publish the actual algorithm that decides which horse wins?

Nope.

Well that's just unfair.. to make a proper guess we should be aware of how the winner is actually decided. We're not asking for the code, the simple algorithm should do

I explained over Skype... should be common sense. Anyways, I will say it has to do with percentages (out of 100) which is deterimined by win/loss ratio

Great one Teddy. Also think about the 'house wins' idea. When there isn't a winner (from the players that placed bets) some of the cash or all should go to the 'house'. Otherwise where would it go ?

Couldn't the odds what are lost going into the actual shop?

Like for example, 4 horses, the people who get the correct horse get the payout, and the ones what loss the cash they lost goes to the business owner, or like a short percentage does.

That's how it gonna works Luke. The losing bets are gonna go to the budget which is used by the script to pay off the winners.

Basicly what Teddy is developing, is the realistic horse racing betting system, the same one used in real life, in which your winnings wont depend on how many people have placed their bets, nor will the amount you bet be spread into the winning cash(jackpot), yet your bet(lets say 5k) is gonna be multply by the odds you pick on the horse(lets say Gusty has an odd 4), so if your horse win you'll get 20,000$.

But what if someone is just gonna sit alone in a better house, constantly betting on a horse that has low chance of winning but high odds, won't he just be able to farm money like that?
NVM: Reece explained, PS no I am not drunk just retarded.

No, he'll go bankroupt.

True works like real life, only the best of gamblers will do with this script while the others will fail.  ;)
