Hello guys,
I want to switch to Linux full time but games and iTunes are stopping me. I heard that you pretty much can set up a virtual windows machine on linux and it will run every windows software you need, so when you need a Windows only app - you switch to the virtual desktop thats running VM Windows and you can run it there. I am wondering if I can run games smoothly on that? Can I, like, run GTA V on that without performance loss, or will the Virtual Machine make me loose performance? Is it a much better option to dualboot or create a VM?
Also, is there any proper tutorial on how to do that? All I see is tutorials on how to set up a virtual Linux machine. I want Windows virtual machine with Zorin OS as default system.

Why not just make use of Wine? I doubt you will get any form of game running performance out of a VM running Windows.
Next best option is dualbooting.

Wine can run GTA SA, IV and VC, games that I mostly play, however, I also like to play some high end newer games which Wine cannot run due to the fact Microsoft is a bitch and refuses to let Wine intergrate Direct x10 and above. So Wine only supports Directx9 and below games, while I also like to play GTA V from time to time, so I cannot completely rely on Wine.
Also, iTunes does not work in Wine, so I need windows for that.
I guess I will stick with dualboot then.

Wine is an application for Linux and Mac that emulates Windows applications so you can run them on these OS.

In situations like these, google helps a lot.

Did you try installing DirectX 10 (or a newer version) through Wine?

Recommend looking at winetricks for installing DirectX10 or DirectX11.
http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks is a good resource for this product

Well I have Zorin on my laptop, and I am thinking of booting Windows back in, because tried running SAMP in it.. God damn.. Resolution problems, keyboard not working, its a pain to launch it.. I think ill refrain from using Linux, as much as I like it..
