The topic of keybinds was raised in March 2014 and after a discussion within HQ the majority voted to not allow it.
We have discussed the usage of keybinds once again within HQ and have decided to allow the usage of keybinds within SA:MP (RS5) to be specfic.
Yes, I did just say that keybinds are allowed within the server.
It's bound to take some time until everyone is aware of the change so don't be too upset if another player complains about you using keybinds if they are not aware of the change.
With that being said, staff members will not hesitate to punish players abusing keybinds within the server, be that to spam others or just be a general nuisance.
We can still change our opinion on this and disallow the usage of keybinds should players misuse the tool.

What are keybinds btw?

Ya know ;)

Keybinds are like, You can set a key on your keyboard or Mouse to type a premade text like "Casino open $5k-$50k" and all you have to do is press say the L key etc
-
Its actually a cool idea unless others misuse it or like spam the shit out of it
example:
Keybind for the number 5(/s FREE MONEY) and then spam the shit out of it might actually be really annoying

Oh its a great idea then. I liked it :D

If people do that they will be punished, and if people don't take the punishment seriously and keep abusing it, the usage of it will be prohibited again.

That, or they could just be banned while others go around keybinding as normal. I don't think many people would keep abusing them after the first or second unban request pops up.

Finally, this is a really good thing that has been added. I do think keybinds add roleplay, I know some may not agree but simple things like unholstering your weapon in detail really adds to roleplay which is vital at the moment

Why would pepole not agree? its the best thing for roleplay and for the others who wan't to kill you in an rp who don't give you time to rp unholstering your gun so you are going to unholstering it without rp...
Its a think were in need of
More like a taxi ad or ads? speaking of ads, how about every 30 seconds you get to make an Ad so pepole don't do it everytime someone logs on..
-
Shouldn't there be any rules? Define, abuse key binds? Are we allowed to use them to "shortcut" certain commands?
-

Consider this...
Player A runs up to Player B, Player A uses Keybinds and Player B doesn't.
Player A uses keybinds to rob player B.
Since Player B cannot keep up with player A, player A kills him.
-
Just imagine ... deploying whole DM logs within a couple of seconds, and then simply killing the guy. :strong:
People who do that, will obviously be easily spotted, and punished.

Anyone doing this, I will ban instantly. No questions asked.

Keep up doing that and the obvious would happen, wouldn't it ;)
Although I am still worried about it, I can't exactly agree with that it would contribute to roleplay. At most it does add traits and descriptions, but it would make things stale: wouldn't it? Unless you have a whole set of different/subtle changes, It would still end up with being the same message every time, rather than having a tiny bit of change.
Think of a person constantly wearing the same suit, colors, buttons, tie every 365 days instead of alternating every two days: that's how i would view how people would use keybinds in roleplay.
That's my opinion though.
-
I doubt that it will be used much for roleplay ... it's more likely to be used to rather stupid things. How will I use it, once I get arsed to install it and see how it works ... /em Patches: blablabla. I'm really glad that a button will take care of that part. plus, probably some /gm if it can function like that, as well as certain ads.

All depends on how creative you are.
-
Keybinds never were able to be detected anyway if you didn't use them like a moron.
That said, I've been using them since the stone age, mainly for DM related situations like quickly healing in a bar.

That feel when people admit to rulebreaking in the past as if they are untouchable now.

I never was aware that it was prohibited untill I read this thread.
Still I don't see any advantage since anyone has access to it.

Except those who don't know/use/want to. Their response time is and will always be different as compared to someone striking sixteen buttons at once to play out a script.

That really is their choice and you shouldn't be blaming the ones that do want to play smart IG.
But I'm sure everyone has different views about this and this is just simply mine.
-
Fantastic. A good step in the right direction.
-
Sauron has job security now. Sorry Jeffrey.

Finally, I was waiting this moment... :app:

It's more stuff to consider now. For example; It's now possible to repair your vehicle at PNS in less than a second with keybinds. Use highspeed toward the marker > Click one button that detonated following command: "/engine~ /repairvehicle~ /engine~"(works on my keybinder) and you are on the track again.
I think that must be fixed.

Got a couple solutions in mind for that case. :gand:
-
Well shoot. Though, freezing the car for a second or half a second would be a posible solution. Returning with zero speed afterwards. (Pretty much what happens right now)
-
Great news! Now cops will never loose tail out of a suspect in order to type/warn with /m1-3..
As for those concerning spam, we have Jeffrey/Sauron in our side haha
