The Development
What is worth offering? What is worth keeping? How far can you push the old “a world of its own†over the player’s will? How much are you willing to sacrifice to reach the top? The questions are many, and the list can be made longer.
As an old player and community member, my quite neutral view of the issues has been that the old and outdated “vision†of SA:MP has changed over the last years. What was fun ten years ago might not be fun now.
If Argonath wants to reestablish as one of the big communities, it needs to be done with an open mindset. Be open for changes. Be open for questioning. Be answering properly, in a mature way. It’s all part of developing to something better. What people think is probably the most important thing since they are the ones feeding the server with activity, ideas and creativity. No ideas are bad ideas. Do not lock topics just because of people saying something today’s situation. Meet with respect, and respect will be shown in return.
Do not allow people to troll around and destroy the mood for everyone else. Focus on the positive side and let them get the candy. Do not allow people to literally fuck things up. Be friendly, but do not show remorse of giving the trolls the finger, because they do not care a single dime about you or your friends.
Player Base and Activity
How can we raise the activity?
By showing that changes is upon to happen. I know that the leader team has taken several amazing steps towards this already, but let’s push it. Make things public. Be open. Think big, dream bigger. Whenever someone is doing something good, give them feedback. Show support. Talk about the changes being made and create possibilities for everyone. Everything doesn’t have to be hard.
How can we bring players to the community?
We need to work promoting the changes, do videos on YouTube. Share ideas and thoughts openly, for everyone to read. Make the serious feeling about Argonath again and its new era. Do pictures, show that we are doing this to re-create and re-establish a great place to be. Many old players have that picture of Argonath being stuck in the past, unwilling to develop and seek progression. It’s about time we manage to turn that negative spiral.
How can we get players back to Argonath?
Most of my friends has been left out because they have been thinking differently. Many of them are still highly active on LS:RP. The server that is so “haram†to talk about here. The server having the same 500 players online, daily. The community that is having a pathetic forum compared to Argonath, but yet much more active. How is that possible? Because they have always been open for changes. They have always been focusing on the role play for all the years and been listening to its community members. They are promoting their creative members to the fullest. You can speak about whatever. That’s something we should learn from, not just ban and throw in the garbage. Reality does not work that way. Even the biggest companies copy good things from others. That’s the part of developing.
How can we get them back? By doing the same thing and a little bit more. It’s not harder. People tend to like when something they suggest or do is positively treated. An open attitude is like an open book to success. If we at the same time promotes the role play, whilst promoting the SA:MP community on social media – our future is bright.
Drug script
Remove all the weed/heroin spots. Make it possible to buy ingredients of your local drug shop. Such as seeds, lights and equipment packages.
Marijuana
Pick your own place to grow. If you decide to grow outside (marijuana), your plants will be taken more time, but the quantity will be bigger. Other people should be able to spot your plants and steal them. If you choose to grow at home, which could be made in your home or at a company, there should be a notifying sentence saying: *a strong smell of marijuana is reaching you by this moment* or something similar. If this happen to you when you are entering someone else’s house, you should be notified. This could also work for cops if they are having a tip of someone growing in their house or whatever.
If the growing is made without any issues, you should be able to cut them down and make marijuana out of the grown parts. If you are noticing any suspiciousness, you could cut them down earlier. If too early, you won’t get anything out of the trees. If half through the process, you should get a smaller amount.
The time should be two days.

Heroin
Heroin is probably the most dangerous drug, and is mostly shipped from Afghanistan or its neighboring countries. Whereas it’s hard to get, it should be possible to order to the docks to make them valuable. Any established group should be able to own their own dock, where they get their deliveries. The amount of heroin they will get depends of the amount of cash they put to the deal. As well as here, there should be at risk and the cops should be able to destroy the shipment at any time. The quality should vary, depending of each deal. Pure drugs should always be more valuable and harder to get.
An order should take approximately two days to get.
Cocaine
This should be the hardest drug to get. Its street value should be ranked high. As well as the heroin, cocaine should be either shipped by boat or plane and could be ordered, and the spot will be at an airport, dock or somewhere nearby these places. Cocaine should be hard to get, and only official FACTIONS should be able to order.
It shouldn’t be like you walk up to a wall and then /order heroin/cocaine – it should be more advanced than that. It’s open for suggestions and ideas.
An order should take three days and the quality should vary.
Weapon dealer
A new world for criminals. Ammunation could be available for everyone, but with HIGH prices. The other way to get guns are from the ones with weapon licenses – which are the ones picked by the management. It should trustworthy and good role players. They are able to get guns from Ammunations by paying less and being able to sell medium prices. To get weapon license, you need to be respected and trusted to not abuse your right.
White blips
Let us finally promote the role play. Remove the orange dots/blips. Let us finally give the police department a chance to seek after criminals the real way. Let cops be able to /crime <ID> like now, but prevent cops (and everyone else) from seeing their names until they are pretty close upon the player. Let criminals hide the real way. This will also remove the cop baiting-part of Argonath which has gotten into the bones of the soul. It’s about time role play is something that is strongly promoted within the SA:MP community and this’ll do that. This will prevent every scenario regarding such unnecessary and unpleasant acts of violence which nine times out of ten is destroying the role play. Let us. For. Once. Do. This.
Stricter Police Department
To be a cop, you have to apply. To get the rights, you have to be valid as one. If being one, you cannot have a criminal record (let’s say no /su for at least two weeks?) and you cannot belong to any criminal organization, such as Gvardia or whatever group. If getting caught being together with criminal groups of duty, you could get suspended. All that should be brought in-game, and not over forum for example. Again – promote the role play.

We're also adding meth which has actual ingredients and recipes to produce multiple variants, or blow up your lab if you screw it up. LSD, and Cocaine will also be added which add temporary benefits to the consumer.

It would be done a bit differently, but principle idea of weapon dealers will be possible.

The drug script I wrote above is pretty much how it would go if you do it in real life.
As for marijuana - is there any way of getting caught by the smell? Let's say if you grow indoors. That would be great for the police and for civilians who are just passing by and randomly happen to be in the house where the marijuana is being grown indoors.
I'm pretty sure making the time take a few days is only going to give the market a boost. Harder to get as well as harder to grow without getting caught.

The time frame is longer than its is now, by a load, but not as long as two days.

Yes, this is the plan, to use docks to order.

Finally, cooperation this is what each and everyone of us who are players have been waiting for. I doesn't matter what rank you hold, whether a developer, administrator, or leader, we are all still players, and if we want to grow the server we need to agree as players. It's taken a long time to reach this point, but I am so happy to see that everyone is willing to have an open mind for change to better this community.
Que, each and every one of your ideas are great. I support everyone of them, obviously we can all agree that some things may need to be slightly modified for script usage, and to ensure everything fits into a specific system, but the overall idea is great.
Looking at the policing deal, this is something I've always wanted to see, I'm glad there is some initiative moving forward to try and enact something like that. Change isn't necessarily a bad thing, looking forward to this project and other projects of this nature to grow this community, and flourish more so than we have ever before.

This may be sad to say but I don't think player activity will ever rise to the RS4 (or previous) due to the player base simply getting older (one clear example is Eugene Gvardia, who was very active in the past, is now married and has a kid IRL).
Keep in mind, GTA:SA is over 10 years old now and the community sadly will not be as large as it once was. Our general direction should not be on how to bring back the old players but instead on the new ones as well as how to improve the quality of our server.

Well, if other communities can bring 500+, there's no reason for us not attempt to establish a quite heavy player base once again. Just because the game is ten years old doesn't mean that people just quit playing it. Take a quick look through the hosted list and you will find quite many having lots of players online. It's possible and pretty sure if old players hear about the changes, not all but many, they will be pumped and will happily return. I know most of them leaving because of themselves feeling disrespected and insulted.

The real problem with blocking criminals from being cops (although I understand your reasoning) is that which occured in late 2007-early 2008 when Luca Scalise totally gutted the SAPD by enforcing this rule. They were left with hardly any competent lower level staff, as well as no skilled footsoldiers (for want of a better term). It ended up being new players and fairly inactive cops (both of which either bad or at least rusty at combat) run by a small set of SAPD loyalists. Criminals had total control of the server, the SAPD had no power at all.
I know that was a long time ago, but make sure you don't forget the lessons of the past, otherwise you'll be like the guys who were actually surprised that people focused on grinding money instead of roleplaying in RS5 last year.

And this Gun license, will this only be given out from the managers? There have to be a way for people to prove it (shooting school etc)

I would like to suggest that instead of just docks, the ordering place should be random coastal areas (or the banks of rivers).
There are not a lot of docks to be owned/used and a very obvious scenario, cops will camp near the docks for _Criminal tags to enter the premises.

I'd rather play with Sauron who doesn't rulebreak, than play with someone who does rulebreak. There is no quality in someone who has no regard for the rules, you're just as good as gone at that point, and I for one have no problem showing anyone the door that thinks breaking the rules and disrupting the rest of us who are actively trying to make a positive change for this community.

Also when argo was having 200+ players on weekends back in the good days was much more better and interesting than now when you barely get 50players ( so in games like this it will always be quantity over quality ).

The role play has increased, in my opinion, dramatically since most of these changes have been implemented, specially the SAPD "lockdown".
To be honest, I prefer having 30-40 players that actually role play, then having over 100 that are just there to make money or DM.
That's my opinion.

Also when argo was having 200+ players on weekends back in the good days was much more better and interesting than now when you barely get 50players ( so in games like this it will always be quantity over quality ).
New players are given the benefit of the doubt 9 times out of 10. If you have been apart of this community for several months you are going to be subject to harsh punishments when you break the rules because you've been around long enough to know right from wrong. In all technicality using a glitch is abusing a glitch, hence the reason why it is defined as a glitch and if you specifically read the rules, using a glitch is forbidden.
These are simple things, that should be reported rather than exploited. A glitch can be repaired in most circumstances, but if you would rather screw around with them instead of reporting them so they can be repaired, who is to say you won't exploit that in a more malicious manner in the future? It's simple, as stated before, if you would rather be a nuisance to us you simply won't be around. We will continue to build and weed out the rulebreakers and those who have no regard for the rules or well-being of this server.

To be honest, I prefer having 30-40 players that actually role play, then having over 100 that are just there to make money or DM.
I share the same opinion but as you can see now you have 50players online and out of 50 just 10 RPs. So my point is that you need 100+ players online and then 50 of them would RP and you and alot others that think same will be satisfied.
These are simple things, that should be reported rather than exploited. A glitch can be repaired in most circumstances, but if you would rather screw around with them instead of reporting them so they can be repaired, who is to say you won't exploit that in a more malicious manner in the future? It's simple, as stated before, if you would rather be a nuisance to us you simply won't be around. We will continue to build and weed out the rulebreakers and those who have no regard for the rules or well-being of this server.
So you expect from a player that was around for just a week or less to go and report a glitch on forum or w/e ? Give me a brake. And i doubt that that glitch can be repaired since it was there since 'Los Diablos gang' was active there and also using it.

You'll be amazed at what the development team can do with SA:MP capabilities. Like I stated, new players are given the benefit of the doubt over older players who should know better.

I'm still here with my wallet wide open for hostings and lists as long as the changes keep happening. Changes will increase the player base, be patient.

ETA on the drug script and white blips? I've tried to get in contact to one another on Skype but it seems like no one is answering regarding it.
It would be lovely to know, because our upcoming black group is pretty much in need of the drug script as soon as possible, so we can open it up.
