Title: Laptop Suggestions
Post by: Axison on July 24, 2015, 02:57:45 am
Hello Folks!

I'm gonna be quick. My laptop's HDD is basically trashed, its making these subtle squealing noises. I'm barely able to operate anything. I am told to purchase a HDD and a Windows 8 disc. In total these cost about 150-200$. Now instead of doing that why shouldn't i add a little bit more cash and buy myself a new laptop?

So my question is this, What are you suggestions for laptop that's around 200-300$ or even 350$(max)?

I need it for stuff like:

Music production
Coding
Playing games such as GTA SA.

It should be able to handle a bit of load but not much as i don't do super heavy shit on it.

Thanks!

For that budget I guess it would be better to buy an used laptop.

The laptop I have right now costs about 300 and worked well, so I guess buying a used one is not worth it.

I just bought myself an Asus Transformer with i7 and 8GB. It works really good. I think you should be able to find the i5-version for about $300, but I am not sure.

Why do you need to buy Windows 8 disc at all? Don't you have the legitimate version already (the sticker with key under your laptop)?

I do. Since i'll be buying a new HDD the geek squad person told me that he's gonna need a Windows disc in order to install the operating system and my warranty just got expired i am not able to get a recovery disk from Toshiba itself.

If you have a key, just loan the disc or download it (and it is okay to download Windows from torrent as long as you have legit key!). It's useless to buy it at this moment.

I'm sorry. There is no key at the bottom sticker. All i see is the part number and the serial(not the windows serial key).

For multiple functions and general use, the HP Envy series is quite good and is all round.

However, it might not fit into the budget.

Lenovo have some affordable laptops.
Their hardware's quite good and well designed and I think much of it is adapted from IBM's previous computer line.
