Title: Why not?
Post by: Protonkid on December 30, 2007, 11:12:20 am
Form a new ARPD squad? Give them special previligies to arrest suspects from the hood of their car :P Jump and arrest, like here:

I know, I played Pursuit Force to much, but it might be useful. Speeders always outrun the Police, Pit Manuver doesn't help, so why not let the new squad handle the situation? I know you'll probably scrap this idea and patalogic criminals will whack me, but come on, a little more justice won't hurt :cop:

Here is the technique: MD_BIKE_JMP_BL MD_CHASE use this code, cops (only officers) will have a right to jump onto the suspect's vehicle and demand to surrender. In case the suspect tries to destroy the vehicle (because player is unshakable this way :P ), the officer can jump off, in this case the suspect is left without a car and according to the rules has to surrender.

Seems to be ALOT of work for some guys jumping on peoples hood..

Why? It could be coded to jump onto the nearest car... /jumpl and /jumpr seem ok ;) The only problem I see is if there are other cars in the way.

Cool idea, but i want them to get rid of crashes before making more crashes:)

Good thinking. We'll leave this idea until crashes are fixed. Then I'll raise it again.

But theres a way to do this without any code, that was how i killed running guys on single player.
Pick a bike, chase the suspect be on his tail, when he brakes smash onto the back of his car, you will fall right onto the hood of the car, point him a gun and voila, surrender or die.  ;)
It worked for me in single player.

Two things why it won't work here. 1)Lags. 2) People are smarter than A.I. And with the help of coding we can jump reliably.

So he types a command and watching animation himself jumping outside the car?
For this animation (have no idea what is that on pic) we are making a special cabriolet police squad cars???
Then of cos players will ask to make a script with freezing the suspect in a car, cos it will fail all time while in chase and an officer will fall down from the car as well (make him sticky please)...

I have only one question - is that the script you cannot live without? And what exactly omg it will bring to waste the time of scripters?

The problem is....it's basicly impossible in PAWN....and functionless in SA:MP or SA without editing the main code.

This means we need special cars to do that, I think that is rediculous, cops have squad cars and those are fine, we are not going to get a topless car just to do this special manourver. I think to make something like this would be a waste of time. And even if this worked, once you jump on the car, then what, you can shoot the suspect to death or he stops and surrneder? This I think would not be something very fair. If you wanted to do such a thing, manually jump on a police car then get the driver to get close then jump on suspects car or even what PiMP suggested, it's called skill, not some funky animation. Moreover, your clip shows a situation with stationary cars, just get out of your car then jump on the suspects car, he's not moving. I have seen police slow down a car by ramming and trying to block it, then one cop jumps out of his car then quickly jumps on the suspect's car. I myself have done this and I would rather do it manually then via some command that does the entire thing for me, it gives unfair advantage to police.

Why do we need special cars? We don't. And he doesn't fall at all.

Besides. It is just a suggestion. In tests, the player could jump onto the car even if it was miles away..;.

Thats why you use IsPlayerInArea

The idea came to me when no one could catch me while a pursuit. That's why. And I didn't get the isplayerinarea thingy.
