Title: Problem connecting laptop to modem via Ethernet cable
Post by: TiMoN on September 22, 2015, 05:44:00 pm
Hi,

So a few days ago my router stopped working suddenly, I've been able to connect to the internet by connecting the ethernet cable to my modem(ISP supplied one) and setting up a new connection then entering my User ID and ISP-provided password(not the router one).

Anyway, I'm trying to do the same thing to my Laptop but it won't work no matter what I try.

I've checked and made sure that:
My ethernet cable is working(it is).
My laptop's ethernet cable socket(or w/e it's called) is working(it is).
My modem is working(it is).

Please help, my PC is running Windows 8 but the laptop is running 7, could that be the problem?

There's no problem with W7/W8.

What about the Network Adapter of laptop though? (Internet connection), does it report good but doesn't connect? Does it report the yellow triangle?

Try upgrading your internet drivers using this: http://www.3dpchip.com/3dpchip/3dp/net_down_en.php
