As we transition to a more player run economy and logistics system that depends heavily on player-to-player interaction and political attributes we figured it was time to enable a more efficient trading network between players. We'll introduce this in a traditional MMORPG fashion by adding a /market where players can list items for sale.
There is a $2k listing fee and a slight tax on items sold. Based on suggestion, the fee has been altered to a post-sale tax (depends on value of transaction). This way you aren't losing money if your items aren't sold.
While right now a lot of items are obtained by shops and are mostly limited to furniture. In the future there will be rare items, crafted items, and of course a lot more that won't be offered in a traditional business. In addition to this, also in MMORPG fashion we'll add a /tradechat for players to communicate in trading other things like properties, or vehicles.
Drugs and other illegal items cannot be sold to the market.

I like this, but can players also chose to avoid the fee by using SA:MP City Hall to offer their items?

Yes, the fee is simply because rather than having to have the hassle of arranging to meet in-game (hard for some timezones), and all that fun stuff, the market handles all of it and takes a small fee for that service. If you want to avoid the fee, do it yourself! :)

Great idea indeed but on the other hand kind of a rip off deal to spend 2k just to use the market. It has its down side, and it's a pitty just because I'm assuming it'll take some time to add it in the first place. I'm pretty sure the fee will bother most of the players.

Perhaps. What do you mean by taking time to add it? The fee is really small, it's a fair trade off for those who want to be able to sell items (mainly in the future) but are restricted by availability. The fee may be replaced with just the tax on the sale.

Think I agree. Probabily better off without the 2k fee to first get people actively using the market, rather than them dismissing it from the very start.
But either way, its not a big downfall. I really like this /market idea!

I've decided to trade off the fee with a minor increase in the post-sale tax. After thinking about it, listing the item doesn't promise a sale so it would be waste of money if it doesn't sale plus a loss of the items. So, in short no listing fees.

All these updates are looking good. Keep it up guys.

Didn't it take plenty of time to add the whole market system I mean?

Way better in my eyes. Great! :)

Will the seller be named or remain anonymous? I think the latter will be better to prevent for example someone from Gvardia not buying something from someone in Soprano because of personal/group grudges, even if they really want the item, that kind of stupidity. (goes for any group of course)

I believe a more realistic approach would be creating "citizen trade channels"(basically a cb channel that is owned by the government and moderated by SAPD). Illegal trading and traders would have to find another way to advertise their goods and services to avoid being caught by the authorities.

I guess that's their own problem.

It'll hinder the player market from functioning to its fullest extent.

Yes, it would be. We're talking about a bigger picture here though.
It would mean bigotry and stupid grudges will spine yet another aspect of the game - in a way illustrated in my previous post - this time being the player market.
A neutral market where you're basically selling it to the market and receive cash upon buyer's collection, where the buyer does not know the seller's name will function much better for that very reason.
It'll probably be twice as used, that's why I brought it up.
