Hey,
Who knows whether it's possible to play GTA SAMP on a MacBook Air, and the steps to realizing a working game?
Thanks in advance!

@Nathan Help here :D
Nice to see you around NitrOx.. As far I know, you can play GTA:SA on it, I am not sure for SA-MP however..
-
I run SA:MP on my Macbook Pro using Wine.
Steps i've taken (roughly):
- Install Wine from winehq.com.
- Mounted my original GTA SA .iso in OSX.
- Double clicked setup.exe and made sure it would open with wine (AFAIK this was automatic).
- Ran the setup like you would on Windows.
- After that, I verified I could play the game by just running gta_sa.exe. This went fine for me.
- Downloaded the SA:MP installer using my OSX browser.
- Ran the SA:MP installer with wine and installed it to my GTA SA directory in the wine folder (setup locates this automatically AFAIK).
- Created a shortcut with applescript to samp.exe so I can use spotlight (CMD+Space) to simply type "San Andreas Multiplayer" to launch the server browser.

There are some performance issue such as the chat font which behaves weird at times, and the low quality gameplay because of the lack of a proper graphics card (especially on your Macbook Air). Also some random crashes might occur. A crashfix might help us in that case.
Happy gaming!

This method works but personally not worth the effort. If you have enough space, I'd run BootCamp to install Windows for the best performance.

There is more effort involved in using Bootcamp than it is to use wine. Plus, the amount of hard drive space on macs is usually quite limited, especially on the Air, so it is not a viable option.

SAMP works quite well on Linux with Wine too :)

Sexy desktop Fuzzy, what distro/gui are you using?

Distro is Manjaro (based on Arch) and DE is Cinnamon using Numix-OSX GTK themes.

Nice to see you.
I see some good answer have been given, but you can also try this one:
Place your PC on top of it and install as usual. :gand:

Is this solved?
