Title: Graphics Card
Post by: CM Daniel on January 06, 2008, 01:17:43 pm
Hey guys, I'm going to get myself a new computer. However, I'm looking for a proper graphics card to do high-end applications. I prefer a graphics card in the range from €400 to €700. Any suggestions?

two 8800 GT would be better :P unless you have a 30+ inch montior

What's better with the 9 series compared to the 8 series of nVidia?

Look at the Directx 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1 post i made :)

How does nVidia do in video-editing? That's going to be an important factor also.

you don't need such good GFX card for video edition.

Any medium grafic card does that well. I think that ram is more important for video editing.

Well, not just putting sequences together with cut, copy and paste. I mean editing the sequences themselves, with Adobe After Effects and Combustion for instance.

Yes, yes, but unless they are very elaborate 3D effects it wont use the GFX.

Well, I heard graphic cards that are made for video-editing have a different structure than the ones made for gaming. So I don't know, really.

.... Quadro cards cant run any games at all...

quadro will run games, with less performance than gaming cards, because they are meant for professional purposes (3d modeling, CAD, special effects, video editing) and thus use different firmware that isn't designed for gaming.

Ok, so quadro isn't what I'm looking for.

I need it to handle both gaming and video-editing.
