In real, if a person is killed, the killer is unknown until the cops are on the investigation. This can also be apply ingame, where if a person is suddenly killed, the main chat will view:
[Player] has been murdered in [Location]
An icon will appear in the map, indicate the location of the murder. There are three possibilities:
1.
The police can use /solvecrime to solve it. The main chat will appear:
Officer [Police Officer Name] solved [Victim]'s murder. The killer [Murderer] is wanted.
2.
There are "clean kills" which cannot be solve. If a clean kill is committed, the main chat appear:
[Victim] has been found dead in [Location].
There are two conditions to make it a clean kill:
- No witnesses nearby (within a range)
- The victim has to be killed "naturally", Ex: Exploding, drowning,...
In this possibility, /solvecrime can't be used to discover the killer.
P/s : Sorry for the grammar and my stupidity to not knowing something is wrong in this idea.

We actually discussed something like this and deemed it's too complicated of a system to implement.
If you want to do roleplay solving the crime, you still can.
-
would be nice for the suspect to remain unknown if there were no witnesses, though. Its lame for cops to know who killed who right away
-
Well, hitmens will be easier to escape :war:

This idea is quite dodgy. I could buy a sniper, go around killing people from a distance, not get wanted and escape with deathmatching.
-
well admins would notice random people dying and look into it, no?

And if there were no admins?
-
what are you trying to say? this happens even with death messages... when no admins are online new players can usually go wild and start killing people
-
I'm not talking about newbies deathmatching. I'm talking about regular players who go on a killing spree and still not get wanted in anyway due the way this idea works. Plus, making something simple become complicating will be bad for bringing in new players.

This idea is not supported due to the confusion factor (we do not want admins to have more chat logs / commands than they have now) and it causes unnecessary complications.
This would also disallow players from properly reporting another for deathmatching as they cannot even know who shot them to death, it'd just be a ragefest all around and eventually we would remove this feature.
