Title: [Unbanned] Huntsman banned by Leon_Arillan
Post by: Huntsman on March 02, 2016, 07:58:33 pm
Your in-game name:
Huntsman

Ban reason as was stated in-game:
Mocking tragic events

Admin who banned you:
Leon_Arillan

When you were banned:
About two months ago

Additional notes:
Hello there, been a while.
So, I was banned from SA:MP by Leon for „mocking tragic events“ or something among those lines. What happened was I got into a light argument with a Serbian player, and as retaliation I said „Bombing of Yugoslavia – best day of my life“. While I think that a full-ban was a little bit too harsh, considering that I have a clean punishment history, I will in no way try to justify what I said. Even though I, ofcourse, haven‘t meant what I said, and it was only a joke, I do agree that what  was said was completely out of line and unacceptable and that it was a very wrong idea for a joke. I wish to apologize to anyone I might have offended with the said statement, especially the Serbian players who might have taken offense to that.  I am sincerely sorry and if  I‘ll be allowed to return, nothing of similar nature will ever occur again.
Why should I be unbanned?  Well, as I said, I do regret for saying the things that I did and I am sincerely sorry. Secondly, I wasn‘t banned in the past, and this is my first serious punishment in any Argonath server, so I would dare to say that I should be given another chance. So there‘s that..

I said „Bombing of Yugoslavia – best day of my life“.

While I think that a full-ban was a little bit too harsh

And that is why people should stop "thinking" they did nothing wrong when they say stupid shit. Childish actions won't be tolerated and people will be removed from the server if the only way they can communicate is in a way that intentionally offends others.

I like this quote from you;
The punishments atm are joke to those who ruin the gameplay for others.

I class your behaviour as ruining gameplay for others that are here. Why would you think it's a joke to mention the yugoslavia bombings? Would you run into a jewish school shouting chants supporting nazis because someone hurt your feelings?

I also thought you left SAMP for VCMP, so I guess you left there again which is why you are only posting this 2 months after your ban?

What I said was unacceptable and in no way justifiable. And yes, it was nothing but childish. I should've known better. And yes, I guess it was game ruining too. As I said, I apologize to anyone who might have been or has been affected by what I said.

As for the unban request, I posted it after two months because my in-game ban was immediately followed by a two-month forum ban, so I decided to wait it out and then post an unban request. With all the respect though, I do not really see how my affiliations with other Argonath branches is really of any relevance here. My punishment history in VC:MP is clean, if that's what you mean.

Do you understand how much of a dick you are? I hope you do and I wish you you would learn when to shut up in-game and learn to understand where the "acceptable" limit is of what to joke about and what not to joke about. I'm not surprised you are here and frankly I'm not even sure you should be welcome here, ever. This trollish dickish attitude is what led to your forum ban so the combination of the two sort of makes me think you are too childish to control yourself here. If you ask me, we should just let VC-MP have fun dealing with you.

As I already said, I am sorry for the nonsense that I caused. It will not happen again. My in-game attitude never was a problem, though. My punishment history is clear (apart from a banana here and there for an occasional argument) and this is my first ban ever in five years. There have been people that said far worse and had gotten away with it... As for my forum attitude, yes, that was a problem, which I have fixed during these two months.
I still fail to get why VC:MP is constantly being brought up in this unban request and what does it have to do with it, though.

VCMP is a part of Argonath as much as SAMP is, why can't we mention it? After all you did say you were leaving SAMP for VCMP at some point.

Yes it is, but I don't understand why for some reason it seems so important in this unban request. I always played SA:MP and VC:MP alongside one another. I kept hopping between the two, so I really have no idea where you're getting that from. I had left Argonath as a whole for like half a year or something due to real life stuff getting in the way for some time, though, maybe that's where you're getting that impression.

Do not be misled or naive  to think that we need only consider your activity, punishment, and attitude within SA-MP. Argonath is a community and it happens to be more than just SA-MP and as a result we do factor these other conditions in our judgement. So yes, your asshole-ish forum attitude when put in perspective to what happened here is something to keep attention to.

You claim to have fixed it, yeah okay, do excuse my skepticism but I doubt that considering the extensive history which does paint a pretty chiaroscuro painting over your forum punishment history.

If it was entirely up-to me, you wouldn't be welcome here ever again. Don't take it personally. I just don't like people who severely degrade the quality of what really could be a fine community without people like you. Call me an asshole for saying it, but the truth needed to be said.

Look, I might dare to say that you are over-exaggerating my misdeeds. I am in no way saying that my attitude on the forums was justifiable in any way. I admit that it was childish and untolerable and through those two months I tried my best to fix this issue. My intentions never were to harm the community in any way. However, you put it as if I was some kind of a community enemy number 1. I had an attitude problem, yes, I said some very stupid and at times offensive stuff, but I never did or intended any harm to the community. Yet people, who have been punished for far more severe offenses, such as continuous rulebreaks, constant ban-evading, and hell, even attacks against the community, have been allowed to return for more than once. In the meantime, I get banned for the first time in five years, and I'm suddenly being presented as evil. I never caused any problems in game whatsoever, my only misdeed being my immature  attitude in the forum , and I'm being told that I shouldn't be welcome here. So I am very hesitant to not take this personal and I can't help but question the motives of such treatment of this unban request. I am not trying to say I am innocent and that I did nothing wrong. I have. My attitude was nothing but childish, immature, and offensive, but there's been people whose misdeeds were far worse, yet they were never regarded as much of a criminal as I am being considered right now. So it's hard to believe when you say it is not a personal thing that's influencing you. We both know the circumstances of what I am talking about, so I guess there's no need to say them here.

On the contrary, childish, immature, and offensive attitudes (and their excessive existence within the community) are exactly something which harms the community. I assure you however it's nothing personal, if it was then my wishes would've already been seen fulfilled. Since it's not, your fate is not at the mercy of my hands, so rest assured others are generally more forgiving than I am in my current mood and view of Argonath.

I cannot really argue with that. I guess I'll just have to wait for a decision from the HQ now.

I apologize for being impatient, but has the HQ come to any conclusion yet?

Once again, I am extremely sorry for the impatience, but I haven't heard from the HQ for quite some time now.

We haven't forgotten about you. We just need to give it some more thought and discussion. Don't worry.

Okay so a few notes to bring up:

1. A lot of your "troublesome" posts and even comments in-game appear to have stemmed from political discussions even though we have a policy, although relaxed, from discussing politics.

My recommendation would be to spend less time talking about real life politics in-game and on the forums; and more time playing the game. I can share a few subreddits with you where you can shitpost all you want to vent your feelings with strange Internet people. I warn you, some of them are absolute savages and Trump supporters (aka mentally challenged).

Well that's the only note I have after some digging.

Think you can handle that if we unban you?

I do agree that I get very aggressive when it comes to politics, and I understand that, hence I will comply with your direction to avoid involvement in political discussions. And haha, no thanks, I think I'd rather prefer not talking about politics at all rather than try to reason with those who support Trump.  :hah:

I can handle that, yes.

Well, if the ban strike system applies to this unban request, then I believe more than two weeks have already passed and I haven't heard from you guys in a while. Have you, perhaps, reached a verdict yet?

Mere guidelines, this is for Teddy to resolve however.

Alright. This is confusing though, Teddy claims he's not the one judging this unban request, yet you state he is.  :D

I am sorry to once again bump the topic, but I am starting to feel abandoned here. An entire month has passed, and I honestly do not see any reason to keep me hanging for so long. I am in honest belief that my misdeeds were not that "evil" to keep me waiting for an entire month  :neutral2:

May this bump also serve as a "still interested" reminder.

I guess I am the one responsible for this or something so uh hi.

I have noticed improved behavior on the forums enough so for me to believe you may have been able to keep yourself more inline when here. A promising change to notice. Let's go with an unban sometime today, should the attitude or behavior resume there won't be such a kindness available from me.
