Argonath RPG - A World of its own

As the topic is named, a group reset.
Could that sparkle the server, the community and make the dusty slime that is holding off much of the potential groups go away? As much as I respect old groups and its keeping together-spirit, it is quite lame to roll around in the same group that was one of the first on the server. As well as having the same characters.
A group reset which includes all groups, re-opening them would be disallowed.
It is one quite interesting thought.
What do you guys think?
Please discuss.

They'll just reform into a group with a different name or leave lol
Delete inactive groups? Sure.

I like it but it will never pass on Argonath, we both know why.
inb4 Shitstorm
inb4 Moan
inb4 Derail
I'd love to get rid of these organized crime groups; They are SO boring and repetitive. Open a streetgang, millions of opportunities there!
Street factions > Organised crime factions

I know it sounds weird but it's actually a good idea.

Yeah, Gvardias can go all hispanic and ya'll niggas can go Chinese :D
-
The idea is great Que, would sure bring a feeling of ''something new'' in the server but it's inevitable not to think like Link, though - i'd just think they'd unite everyone from the old groups into other groups with new names, but the style of play and the thinking would not change, unless they agreed to leave the confort zone and be up for something new.
-
The community doesn't have the mindset to coup. Another limitation in the achievement of greatness unfortunately. The exact reasons why my time here grows shorter a kilometer every post I read.
-
Que.. do you even play on the server anymore? All I see is you hanging around the forums commenting on random topic every few days. Bit like SugarD
Maybe hop in and play for a week or two before suggesting stupid stuff eh?

Respect others' suggestions and if you are unable to do so, just stop responding. Maybe stop pointing fingers at people and cut the complaining. The guy's been there for longer than you AND me so at least reconsider what he says.
On another note (and because I'm tired of responding to this jackass), it is a good thought; The same groups've been present for eternities. But unless they really change their persona, their themes and habits, it's gonna be quite like Link said. It's gonna be tough to bring some diversity. Much tougher if there are tons of families/factions/mafias that have the same pattern. You can not blame them though, I suppose. So the theory is alright, but I guess it will never be set in motion that easily.

As much as I like the idea I think it will make more people leave tbh

Instead of this all groups can start being tagless and having the opportunity to hide a group from your /groups so people dont go after _Luciano _Soprano _Gvardia tag. Use cool names instead of MushMush or whatever it was...
-
To be honest, I am not really keen on another RS5 release with everything reset. Even if we "reset groups" people would still play the same roles as they are now under different group names and character names, nothing changes. I can't see any viable reason or advantage to even do something like this.

Maybe not reset the groups but bring some sort of rules which will enforce diversity. Right now the criminal side is very boring because it's made up of mafias walking around doing fuck all. If we introduce long term street gangs into the mix it would generate unlimited role play scenarios.
As a mobster, it would be unrealistic if you're seen in East Los Santos playing dice with some hispanics no?

+1
but name change costs 10k :P if in case its exposed but still cool huh ?
people should be allowed to hide their names.

I haven't been on the server for a while for obvious reasons, but atleast when I last was there, the entire group thing was a huge clusterf... . There were shitloads of groups having vehicles laying around that didn't even play in the server anymore. There really should be some kind of regulation for this system. And also, giving government supported vehicles to criminal organisations doesn't really make sense. I think criminals should buy those vehicles and then be able to make them accessible only by their members.

It definitely shows. The way it has been since my unban in November is that an individual buys a vehicle and can then give it to a group for said group to use it.
I, again, agree with clearing inactive groups. And definitely like Bruce's idea.
Also, remove criminal groups and police groups from /groups. I don't like the idea of /groups at all but I'm sure somebody will cry like a little cunt enough to keep it. Changing to tagless won't change things at surface level but will definitely adjust something psychologically. Groups won't be tied down to their own group and will have more freedom with their character.
-
/groups is really pointless. A tool for people with low self esteem to show off their "achievements" :bananarock:
-
FBI should permanently shutdown organized crime families by suing their asses, the group is then closed down for a few months and its members wouldn't be allowed to roleplay using that group's theme.

We all wear masks.
-
Dev team already has agreed on some form of ability to make group or ranks hidden for non group members. Exact details are still being worked out.
-
Yeah, about that, no thank you.
Call me narrow-minded, but I don't wanna go through RS5 beta again.
-
Just make /groups for admins and /groupmembers for members of that group and admins+

I said the exact same thing to Bruce today.

Would be pleased to do so, but taking things to court which is rather busy trying to work against the Law Enforcement... it's not that easy.

Have you ever considered the fact that the people playing the same characters and same group theme for years are doing so because they enjoy it?
I think the whole "RP or ban" thing is far enough, and I'm HOPING it'll actually do some good around here. Last thing I want is a fucking communist server that tells me what roles and characters I can and cannot play - for the "benefit of the community." I have played this server since '09 and have tolerated enough bullshit from closed-minded members of HQ (good riddance), people driven by personal/group vendettas outside of roleplay, being told that my way of roleplaying is somehow inferior to theirs and I'm a retard for choosing to do my way, being told I can't use the fucking /em command however I please, & asswipes who generally make playing unenjoyable. Despite all this I continue to play for one reason and one reason only - and that is the freedom to roleplay however I please. If this were to be implemented any time soon (which it definitely would not, over Gandalf's hypothetical grave), look forward to seeing half or more of the community leaving before RS5.2 even has a chance to shine.
Like it or not, groups are the backbone of this community and have been for a long time. Last thing you want to do is shit on the thing that keeps them happy enough to stay here.

Quality and established roleplay groups are one of the main things that hold the server together. Many groups have given so much to the server in the form of quality roleplay over the years, and they thus fully deserve their current reputation and the respect they receive. As long as groups are active and keep up the quality roleplay, there is no reason to change anything.
