Title: Reforming mayors
Post by: AK47 on March 17, 2016, 12:21:32 am
So as the title says.

Isn't it time to vote for new mayors or something seeing that Skyhawk barely been active since he was chosen, haven't seen Antonio much and Lawrence is currently banned and denied for a while.

Thoughts?

It's not like they do anything anyway.

I would love to see a new election, the first election was hilarious.

HQ really need to set strict conditions for the new majors though as well as the voting system. Such a shame they have to restrict it though.

Mayors in RS5.2 will have more involvement which directly affect citizens within their cities.

We are currently polling options to renew the mayoral system with an enhanced  system.

Let the mayors actually propose their reforms and intentions. Have them present their theme. Prepare the audience. Then have a period in which they publicly speak out, separately at first, followed by a debate. Following that, we get another week (or any other span of time) to vote for the mayor.
I'd suggest this as a fundamental structure for the pattern of the next elections.

Conferences in-game never plan out 95% of the time because of the audience. People go there to fuck around and it will eventually end up not effective and bullets flying..

I'm a culprit myself, I sold $1 peanuts at Dentico's conference!

Excellent news.

This is plausible too for a realism element as far as political roleplay goes.

So, the current mayors, who have done nothing, can come back to RS5.2 and have all kinds of power/script support? What did they do to deserve that?

IMO there should be a new mayoral election for all cities, this time you shouldn't have to have $1,000,000 and you should have to be active for atleast the past 3 months, the elections and such should be about creating roleplay among players and not about your financial situation or who your friends are, the last elections seemed extremely fixed, if they weren't, we wouldn't have 3 inactive (1 banned) mayors who if you ask me don't care about the server or roleplay one bit, they took their positions and then logged off, what the hell was achieved other than preventing others from roleplaying around the mayoral system? Shit like this needs to stop.

If you don't plan on hanging round for long, don't hog stuff which other players could use, you are just ruining RP and preventing others from achieving anything, the current mayors should all be ashamed of themselves, they did not deserve the positions one bit and how/why they got given them is beyond me.

How do you get by in life? Honestly. I said absolutely nothing about the current mayors or what we plan to do with them.

Well I assume Rei's post was mentioning how the current mayors do nothing (I could be wrong), and you didn't really seem to address that in your post, if that's actually what he meant.

I don't mean to come in so brutally, but it's time people who don't play here stopped hogging shit, it's something that has irritated me for so long.
I'm talking about mayors, ARA, the FD, and I guess there's a few other things I can't think of right now, it all needs reforming and new leadership to be successful.

I didn't address it because it's not worth addressing if we don't reform the underlying systems in the first place. We need a stable system in place before we can talk about seeing if they are worthy of staying or not. One problem at a time. Can't fix the world overnight.

And this is just some of the official "shit I didn't do" without any script support. Lately, I've just been waiting for RS 5.2. to launch to be able to execute a whole variety of ideas I had in my pocket. As I wait for my unban, I will continue the work here, on the forums.

Lawrence was the only mayor who actually roleplayed as a mayor, even without any script support.. to be fair

Indeed. And also wasn't going around directly shooting people and being directly involved into drug trafficking. At least he didn't do it in front of everyone.

I don't think doing now a reform is a good idea. Their mandate finish within one or two months. (According to this topic (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/index.php?topic=114522.0) "Mayoral Terms")

Mayors started their "job" officially day 10 of November 2015. LINK (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/index.php?topic=114528.msg1823092#new)

Whiteman indeed was the only active Mayor and the documented events say much, but players needed or need someone to be really dedicated fully to that duty. The roleplay access that "Mayor" provide was a failure and a waste of time for hosting the previous elections. I personally enjoyed even tho caused a lot of harm. Now i think, we must prepare few rules before we go through new elections. A proper constitution first of all.

If you don't have anything that relates to the topic, don't post. No need to increase your e-penis here.

Back on topic.

Never said you didn't do anything Lawrence, just mentioned that you where banned, was mostly referring to Skyhawk and Antonio.

I'm pretty sure if it gets out of hands bans will be issued.
