Title: AMD Catalyst Control Center - Problems with Windows 8.1
Post by: Younes on May 13, 2016, 07:50:34 pm
After I have updated my windows 8 to windows 8.1, I have faced a problem, which I couldn't really solve.

My problem is that my "AMD Catalyst Control Center" has stopped working, and this disallowed me from switching graphics for specific games from "Intel HD Graphics 4000" to "AMD Radeon HD 8670M".
Currently, I believe that all my applications including games are running with the Intel graphics, and when I tried to switch graphics, an error window appeared:

The solution is probably obvious: Update your drivers.
The problem with this solution is that I could not find the proper drivers for windows 8.1 for my graphic cards. I have tried the auto-detecter, it said it is up to date, but still facing problems. I wanted to update it manually, but couldn't find the proper drivers. It'd be great if someone helps me with this.

Thanks for your time.
Note: I'm kinda inactive, so I might reply after couple of days.

I assume you have a 64-bit Windows.

First use this to remove all previous graphics drivers (Intel and AMD both) from your computer: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
Then install Intel HD Graphics drivers from here (use the auto-updater to find newest one): https://downloadcenter.intel.com/
Then install the Crimson 16.5.2 drivers from here (11th May 2016 released): http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows%208.1%20-%2064

Thanks for your help.
I have un-installed the drivers, installed the ones you gave on the links. The Intel one worked, however the AMD one caused some troubles such as black screen on launch, and disallowing me from accessing computer, saying that I must restart each time I restart my computer.

Can you show us the message you're getting in regards to the restart?

Some message in french, don't exactly remember it; but it said something like "New machines were installed in your computer, in order to take effect, you must restart your computer". It is gone after I disabled and installed my drivers for AMD.

I believe that it is solved.
Downloaded some driver from amd.com, and the Catalyst Control Center is working again.
Not sure if the graphics are working again, but I hope it is.

Thanks to your help, much appreciated.
