Title: I hate my PC
Post by: Matt on May 31, 2016, 01:17:22 pm
Hello again

Im experiencing issues regarding chrome
I was installing SAMPFUNCS for samp but my antivirus detected gamemod threat and I ignored it
so I was installing the mod when I sensed something was changing on my pc
I opened chrome and surprise A new plugin was installed and I cant remove it
also When searching on google using google chrome it redirects me on some unknown search engine
I tried deleting the values in regedit and removing the file on chrome user data but it keeps on coming back
I have researched about it and it says adware
I scanned it using ESET Nod32 but it says nothing
I tried ADWCleaner but it still came back

This happend to IE and firefox too but I just reset it

Try running a scan with Hitman Pro; http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro

Additionally, some malware rewrites the shortcuts link to chrome.exe"www.searchwhatever.com/". Make sure the values in the shortcut don't have additional commands.

https://www.avast.com/en-us/browser-cleanup (https://www.avast.com/en-us/browser-cleanup) You can also use Avast's portable app: Browser Cleanup to manually/automatically remove plugins from FF, Chrome and IE.

Just some tips ive learned from the thousands of viruses/malware infections I've removed from windows systems.

I tried ADWCleaner but it still came back

OP already tried that junk.

EDIT: @afmatt if you need help via Skype/TeamViewer, I'm available to assist. Also, 80% of malware on the internet comes from Russia and China.

Not knocking ADWCleaner, just never been a fan of it. I'm sure it works, but when it comes to browser hijacks, most of the values are "legit" values, and most AV's overlook it. Same with Hitman Pro. I've always used Avast/ComboFix/rootkit and bootkit removers (like TDSSkiller and Avasts MBR scanner, tho it doesnt help with win10 and gpt) with high success rates.

EDIT: Currently supporting via Skype

Removed the hijacker and the extension using google(even though google was the site hijacked xD)
Just put 3 commands on my command prompt then reinstalled google chrome and the problem was gone

the problem has been fixed
feel free to lock this topic
