A young Pakistani woman who was burned to death by her family on Wednesday for running away and marrying without their permission had been tricked into returning home by her mother’s promise to organise a proper wedding ceremony, her husband hassaid.
Seventeen-year-old Zeenat Rafiq was doused with petrol and set on fire by her mother, Perveen, in a neighbourhood of Lahore. The mother reportedly made no attempt to hide her crime, shouting to neighbours that she had killed her daughter for supposedly dishonouring her family....

The whole thing with parents that can decide who you can marry or not is really bad.
-
Everyone should be allowed to marry for love.

im pretty sure the mom was okay in the head, was religious and educated and acted her life on those teachings. those teachings are clearly responsible for her actions /s
I've heard about people running away a lot for love or in relations, but never such an extreme reaction from parents. It's such a shame that there are actually a minority who considers these type of things alright here. Hopefully the government does more than make statements against these types of honor killings.
EDIT:
Pakistani clerics denounced (http://www.straitstimes.com/asia/south-asia/pakistani-clerics-say-honour-killing-is-against-islam) such honour killings.

I hope they know their religion properly, burning someone is definetly not tolerated and should never be, I don't understand how murder or even burning someone is okay if he or she married someone with out the parent's perms.
