Well i have computer problems and the only really way to get rid of them is too change my operating system from windows xp professional to windows xp home. The thing is i don't have the disk and i don't really want to pay for one.. there is also another thing, i don't want to lose my stuff on my computer if i reboot and start with a new xp version, is there any way at all that i can change it without losing anything?
thanks, niall

Firs you should get a disc anyway, and all the information that you need you could record to dvds or borrow a hard disc to be sure that you wont loose it ;)

Anything that requires a update/downgrade of OS can also be solved by reformatting..

Simple.... back up all your important data and restore the machine.

Everything turned out ok with some luck for once, i backed up all my files on my 80GB ipod video which i could not do before. i also found a windows XP home sp2 disk in my brothers laptop which i did not know existed. so i deleted all off my computer and installed a new copy of windows, now the 2 games that did not work which are GTA:VC and also GTA3 work perfectly now. I only experianced one problem which was i could not login on forum but aragorn fixed it quickly which was great, now i am just reinstalling all drivers that are to be found for my model on the dell website.

Why would you even want to use Home over Pro? "Home" is misleading: it lacks some features that can be useful to the basic user too.

Home lacks in some network features... domains or something...

i made a mistake i meant to say i had 2000 before not professional, anyway reasons are complicated, well problem is fixed so i guess i will lock it.
