Title: You can delete topics, but you can't delete problems
Post by: McGarrett on July 19, 2016, 05:48:14 pm
I do not understand the constant delete of topics that community members create in order to address problems and suggestions for improvement. You're only showing the members that you're being ignorant to the problem and refusing to let people voice their concerns and opinions. Doing this will just push members away from the community.

People need to learn how to show the problems politely and not turn every topic into a retarded personal fight between cops and criminals. That's why topics gets locked, because of that. If people do something in proper way then topics do not get locked. Easy as that.

Locking != Deleting

The topics are not deleted. When they are locked, they are thrown behind all the other open topics. (which for argonath means dozens of pages back) A standard SMF feature.
As for why this is being done; usually its explained why. In this case people decided to continue attacking each other rather than to give constructive opinions onto the topics at hand.

Indeed. the problems aren't removed in this way and we know that; see it as the opportunity to start the discussion anew, bringing the golden posts from there, back into the new topic for easier overview.

Coincidentally, just like many topics. the problems are spawned forth by the players and have to be fixed by the players. Unless you insist on removing abused features which would mean we'd go to merely a chat script.

TL;DR: Don't take it as censoring or anything resembling that. It's rather to keep the venue clean to prevent an image of the community being full of trolls.

And there's a link to the most recent locked topic I am going to assume you are saying was deleted; http://www.argonathrpg.eu/index.php?topic=117361.msg1846699#msg1846699

The original tone of the topic was to allow players to express their opinion on the matter of "good roleplay" given the fact that Argonath is a bit of a cesspool of different ideologies. Unfortunately certain individuals decided to derail the topic in order to point fingers. Once derailed any constructive posts afterwards were completely ignored. As to be expected from a non-constructive community.

Some people make foolish topics
Yeah. What did I expect.

This is not a SMF feature. It is a forum modification Gandalf installed years ago to keep controversial topics out of sight, and prevent further negative arguments or topics from arising.

Too bad that without debate, there's no improvement. It just becomes stagnant and doesn't progress.

There's a certain line that's often crossed here between a debate and simply mudslinging and arguing for the sake of arguing, rather than to reach a mutual understanding.

More than just an 'image' unfortunately.

Hi.

Quote
When police officers arrived at the scene, they shout for several times as they were going to arrest Jim. However none of you including Jim, you and Ramo tried to interact with them and you were just standing still there. When I rushed toward the roof I didn't see Jim carrying any kind of weapon so I decided to use taser to stop him but apparently he decided to scroll his weapons after he got frozen by /taser scripts.

Is this roleplay?
