As many of you fellas are aware, the GTA V HUD mod is a pretty nifty thing to have. It gives your guns a sleek new look on screen, displays damage and other stats for weapons, removes recoil/spread, moves the HP and armour bars, changes minimap a little bit... oh yeah did I mention it removes weapon recoil/spread?
Now, as I understand it, there are two versions of this mod. One that edits recoil/spread, another that leaves recoil/spread at vanilla levels. It is, however, virtually impossible to tell who uses which version (without spectating the person for a good 10 hours or so), and honestly it seems many people are just straight up downloading this mod for the recoil change. When I ask in game if this is allowed, most answers I receive are "I don't know." Obviously, this is not allowed - it provides an unfair advantage compared to players who do not have a modified game. As such, why isn't the GTA V HUD mod completely disallowed? I understand it sucks for those that legitimately use the mod without the spread change, simply for the aesthetic reasons, but this is what happens when people abuse something; we cannot have nice things.
Anyone got any thoughts on this?

I have had that modification installed on my GTA, and i honestly don't know which version i installed and it's the first time i hear about that, It's good that i do not have it anymore on my GTA.
I don't know if that modification removes weapon recoil\spread or not, and i didn't really notice that when i had the mod installed on my gta, however if that's right it must be disallowed on the server so if someone caught from HQ using it he gets banned immediately, both versions .

I encourage everyone who has it to delete it because even though it's impossible to you to know if it edits the spread, it is very noticeable once you are being shot at. There were a few cases when I was being mowed down with a M4 wielded by a dark blue cop when I said on teamspeak "is this dude seriously using no spread?" And realising afterwards that it's either this mod or the First Person mod.
We should make a list of banned mods and do it fast because the ban hammers are falling for the cheaters, and the ban hammer doesn't see the difference between a bad mod or a hacking mod.

Basically, every mod is not allowed if it alters anything but the textures, you can use it, but if you get banned it will be a justified ban.

I believe the GTA V HUD doesn't change your recoil, it just looks like your crosshair expands but your bullets spread. but again, I'm not sure if I'm 100% correct so someone with that mod should test it and show us.
If it clearly gives you no recoil, then it should be considered as an illegal modification
-
I heard the newest version does not alter the spread, but the older version does. But again, best to check before using.
Same with first person shooter mods I believe, some give you an advantage as your character is slightly desynced, but others are fine, impossible to tell unless you have a definitive list.

Finally a topic about it.
Alright so, it is true, there are two different versions of this hud, one that comes with spread and no recoil and one that is clean, the difference is, the clean one come without cleo at all.
There is nothing but textures, i've done tests and the weapon recoils and spreads the bullets in the same way as default one, there is no illegal modification in it unless you consider the crosshair not expanding as a cheat and not texture.

First Person is nothing but a camhack altered in head bone. (skull)

Does depend on the mod mate, just like the GTA V HUD mod.

I changed from Link's Vanilla mod back to my GTA V hud mod, it makes no diffrence to me what so ever, the only advantage I have is the GTA V hud is pretty much clean and don't clog up my screen, better view basically the one advantage I got from using the GTA V hud is the different crosshairs for the different weapons, thats all. There is no no-spread nor is their a no no-recoil, all you have to do is make sure that the version you install don't come with dodgy .cs files as they are bound to alter shooting.
(Reason I mainly changed back is because the widescreenfix makes a little white box appear where the crosshair is and its horrible.)

If you ever do want to install that widescreen fix again, you can disable it.
Open "(Root SA directory)\modloader\FixWidescreen\scripts\GTASA.WidescreenFix.ini" and change "DisableWhiteCrosshairDot" from "= 0" to "= 1"
I'd say we make a whitelist of acceptable mods.
I'll start:
• limit_adjuster_gta3vcsa.asi
• mobileHud_byDK22Pac.asi
• modloader.asi
• postfx.asi
• ps2refl.asi
• SALodLights.asi
• SAMPGraphicRestore.asi
• sensfix.asi
• SilentPatchSA.asi
• skygrad.asi
• StreamMemFix1.0.asi
• GTASA.WidescreenFix.asi

@Link9rly
Is sensfix.asi used to fix the mouse bug?

Yes, when Y-axis doesn't change sensitivity with x axis.
-
Acceptable list hmm, and is there anyway to detect other .asi's loaded? Hmm?

Not the way you think but it's pretty easy to know when somebody's using something shady.
