Hello, Argonathians.
Today, we will be taking a look at the changes that were made to the harpooning script.
Ogras can properly swim!
After being genetically modified, Ogras now no longer swim side ways, backwards, or even into the beach! They now know which direction to face when they are swimming.
Hunting time
Ogras now only come out from 0400 (4 am) to 1600 (4 pm), thus giving players a 12 minute window to catch as much Ogras as they can. Ogra hunting will now be more challenging than it was.
New spawn locations
The old spawn locations were flawed in many ways. From Ogras swimming into the beaches to Ogras that have to travel so far, they start swimming at mach speed. We have therefore removed all the old spawn locations and replaced them with new ones.
The new spawn locations will work differently than before. Previously, locations are selected at random. This, while being more than sufficient, produced some unwanted results. The two more common problems were the high concentration of Ogras spawned at the Vice Point, Washington Beach, and Ocean Beach coast line, and Ogras tailing one another because the same spawn point was chosen for both Ogras.
Spawn locations are now separated into two areas. The west (Prawn Island, Downtown, and Drug Island region), and the east (Vice Point, Washington Beach, Ocean Beach, Vice Port region). When the in-game time reaches 0400 (4am), the script chooses either the west, or the east to spawn the Ogras. Ogras are also created on a different path than Ogras that are still swimming.
The fish market
The fish market also received an overhaul in terms of game mechanics. Previously, every Ogra caught were sold for a static price of $500. This was highly unbalanced. We've always wanted to introduce a similar "demand" system that is present in the drug market to the fish market. The fish market now runs on a "demand" system too. Every Ogra sold is added to a counter. The counter is reset after 3 in-game days (72 minutes) at 0300 (3am).
The prices for the fish market are as below:
- 1 - 5 Ogra sold = $800 per Ogra
- 6 - 20 Ogra sold = $500 per Ogra
- 21 - 35 Ogra sold = $150 per Ogra
- 31+ Ogra sold = $75 per Ogra
The fish market is made to maximize the amount of cash the player will receive. For example, if the fish market already has 3 Ogra sold and the player were to sell 5 Ogras. The player will receive $1600 ($800 x 2) for two Ogra to fill the first cap and $1500 ($500 x 3) for the other three Ogra.
Other changes
If the player does not have any caught Ogra, stepping into the sphere at the fish market will tell the player the area (east or west) when Ogras have been spotted.
One thing that players kept asking for was a way to keep track of the amount of Ogras they have caught. Now, players will have a steamy red text at the bottom right of their screen showing how much Ogras they caught.
For balance reasons, players are now only allowed to carry up to 5 Ogras. If they wish to catch more Ogras, they are now required to sell the Ogras that they have caught.
That is all for now. Here's a picture of Kessu genetically modifying an Ogra using a golf club. ;)
