RAM is just a part of what makes the computer go better. GTA 4 doesnt use that huge amount of ram, 4 gig is pretty medium, 8 gig is more than enough and is fine. Issue lies somewhere around processor and video(graphics) card. RAM helps fps just a bit but not whole lot

RAM will not give you more FPS if your rest system is not good. Only way RAM can be better is by overclocking it or running the memory to a XMP Preset Profile. But even this only has as purpose to get the RAM faster. You give us no clue on what RAM sticks you use so we can't really help you at all.

There could also be incompatibility issues like you did NOT buy the same RAM so your PC is forced to run with lowest frequency stick.
Example:
1x4GB 2400Mhz + 1x4GB 2133Mhz => The PC will run BOTH at 2133Mhz unless set differently.
OR

Wrongfully installed sticks. For example: (X represents RAM - | represents EMPTY RAM Slot) - Assuming your PC has 4 slots (aka Quad Channel)
2 Sticks good Configuration:
X | X | or | X | X

Wrong Installation:
X X | | or | | X X

For rest people actually reading this post: It's generally known that more Ram Dimms will generally perform a lot better than one single. So if we say we have 2x4GB = 8GB it will run better than 1x8GB alone!

Warning: Keep in mind that Overclocking RAM or any PC component may harm your computer.

That's still wrong :lol: it should be 2 4 2 | or 4 2 | 2

by your formation of 2 2 4 you are running First channel at 2 + 4 and second with 2.. Which is mixed and not recommended at all!

The ram should be in either all slots, or in 1 + 3 or 2 + 4
