Title: Active / passive (?) income for cops
Post by: Roy Earle on July 22, 2017, 08:48:33 pm
Crims can earn money by smuggling cars, fishing ogras, etc.

This does not require for others to be online.

They can also earn money by robbing stores, which requires for cops to be online and for the criminals to actually 'want' to do it.

Cops can only earn money by killing or apprehending suspects, which requires other players to be online and criminals actually existing.

So how about adding another way of income for cops which does NOT require other players and requires the player to be active?

I'm not talking about some stupid idea of getting money for patrolling X district, but an actual active task. Similiar to fishing or delivering pizza.

Or just add paycheck every hour for cops, which should be 50k. For officials only of course.

So any ideas?

No. I'm pretty sure some people see themselves as balance masters ( :D ) so they should come up with something.

I don't know really. Maybe collecting evidence created by script, based on district and clues?

We had planned an alternative source of income for cops based on illegal weapons confiscated (to avoid cops suiciding and collecting the chrome to get money).

Something along those lines would be nice, as well as minimission reward balance change (250 for protecting VAJ in 2v8 is a joke).

I figured cops already received money for confiscating weapons. I don't see the point in why cops would confiscate illegal items (drugs, weapons, etc) if they don't receive anything for it?

Last I checked, which was funnily enough earlier today, cops do not get rewarded for handing in illegal weapons.

So the hard part was scripted, just not the payment. It's basically like I wrote this script myself.

>disable cops dropping weapons on death because right now it's like some iraq simulator where ppl kill swat teams to store m4
>confiscated weapons won't be 'cheated' anymore when people dont know whether something is a cop pack or not
>in case of corruption cops can just be frisked by other cops and plus a screenshot of someone using illegal shit is enough
>make confiscating weps 'reward' the cops by say 2$ per assault rifle bullet, 3$ for shotgun etc. In case of people abusing it to sell their own guns that they don't need it's still fine, cops hold gun buyback events in reality.

>disable cops dropping weapons on death because right now it's like some iraq simulator where ppl kill swat teams to store m4
>Kill a SWAT officer with shotgun
>Pick up their M14
>Use it

Why is that hard to believe? It makes sense to me.

What wouldn't make sense is:
>Kill a SWAT officer with shotgun
>All his weapons instantly malfunction as he dies

The part where you can take 60 ruger and headshot a full van of swat sitting in a corner just to store 1000 m4 afterwards. The problem is that there should be a way to differentiate between illegal/legal weapons (like m4 bought from ammu and m4 stolen from dead swat) but that'd be simply too complex to make. SWAT shouldn't be just composed of die hard dmers who've been playing the game for 2 years+ but unfortunately this will be always the case due to the fact each swat death profits criminals.

besides if we go by that logic, your vehicle should be impounded by the police each time it's discovered to be used during a crime&'survives' without getting respawned once you evaded/died/got jailed etc.

Criminals lose their weapons just the same as cops do. Difference is cops (or SWAT) get their weapons for free. So this is in a way a big advantage to cops.
If we removed cops dropping weapons, the balance is gone, and there isn't a need to create an unbalance like that just to make dying as a cop matter even less than it already does.

Yes you're right about the scenario, but you have to be a very good to be able to kill a van full of SWAT with 60 ruger bullets. I don't know many who are able to pull that off. Those are able, I'd expect SWAT to handle him with a more tactical approach and extreme caution.

Why would SWAT compose of players with low combat skill? That makes zero sense to me. Not all SWAT officers have experience from DM servers, but all are good at combat hence their place in the SWAT team. I don't think we need to change that.
