I suggest you use "Town Zones", it writes above your map and under it what is your current location.
This (Click me) (http://arpd.argonathrpg.com/forum/index.php?topic=32122.20) is another map mod made by a veteran community member, is actually outdated, but does the job with the place names.

I had started a current map for 5.2, but couldn't get enough help getting all the info. This (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/index.php?topic=104864.0) is the most up to date argomap I've seen.

I also use argomap mod, just like Vaeldious. probably your best shot for beginning
